What can a coaching session do for you?
A coaching session is where the applicant works with a coach to express themselves freely, discover and clarify goals through conversation, and explore and find their own solution strategies and action plans. Many large corporations hire dedicated executive coaches for their senior leaders to break through blind spots and develop potential.
This is a gift from Roger to PM.ABC students after they pass their exams: break out of your own frame, unlock your potential, and move forward with confidence.
Places in each class are limited, so please make good use of this resource.

Promoting Agile
22/08/29 Taiwan Financial Holding Company (10,000+ employees) Associate Vice President Ellen “How to Introduce Agile” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Ellen, and I have worked in the IT division of a financial holding subsidiary for more than five years. I was struggling with how to introduce Agile into an environment used to detailed work plans for every single task. My one-hour Agile coaching session with Coach Roger felt like finding a heading in the middle of a vast ocean; I was inspired and gained a great deal. In just one hour, through guided questions, he helped me think through the problems that introducing Agile might bring, and helped me reflect and find the answers myself. I think it was a wonderful process. First, I am very grateful to the coach for pointing the way. I had been lost, and somewhat confused about how to promote Agile inside the company, but with the coach’s guidance I first clarified the difficulty I was really in and saw clearly where the problem actually lay. Then I thought about possible directions and what the solutions might look like, so that I could find a direction in the conversation, and a case that could be clearly executed emerged. I plan to use it to build a Product Roadmap, and to turn that case into “seeing is believing” so the team can understand the benefits Agile can bring. These were the biggest takeaways from the coaching session.
In the coaching session, Coach Roger fully demonstrated the professional skills of a Scrum Master. Through plain, accessible dialogue and without drawing on any industry knowledge, he helped me see through the clouds and find my direction. It was a conversation well worth every minute. Thank you, Roger!
2022/4/27 CSM Class 41 Lisa “Putting Scrum and Agile Theory into Practice at Work” Coaching Session Feedback
If you are like me and love learning all kinds of theories, yet always find blind spots after learning them, not knowing how to apply them or seeing the gap between theory and real work, then a coaching session is an indispensable step after the course. In a one-on-one coaching session, guided by Roger, everything suddenly clicked, as if by magic.
Since the CSM course ended in January, I have thrown myself without pause into the transformation working group my company has just launched, shuttling day and night between work and family, yet always keeping in mind how to bring what I learned in CSM into my work. I am grateful to Roger for offering a one-hour coaching session, which let me, three months after the course, review the essence of CSM, simulate the similarities between work and theory, and revisit the motivation behind the goals I wanted to achieve.
At the start of the session, Roger asked me to introduce myself and my career goals. One quantified goal was a raise, but when he asked “Why do I want a raise?”, that question kept working inside me for three more days. Beyond material drivers such as “earning money to support my family” and “earning more so life is easier,” “What is the real motivation behind it?!” was my first takeaway from this session. The questioning style of coaching rang in my heart like church bells.
Then we moved on to the topic itself: how to realize the spirit of Scrum and Agile at work, and apply the tools the theory provides.
Once the coach understood that our team had been formed less than a year earlier, that the department’s mission was to assess the economic benefits of developing key components, and that the assessment tools were still being shaped and experimented with, he patiently walked me through it hand in hand. We started by reviewing the three pillars of Scrum’s empiricism, TIA, and defined, given our current work mission, my boss as the Scrum Master, and myself and my teammates as Product Owner and Developers at once. Then we took it further: Transparency: make progress visible on a shared platform; Inspection: report regularly to the boss and the product manager every month; Adaptation: gather feedback from those meetings and then bring in improvement plans.
Once the structure was in place, we went on from the Product Goal, developing a tool that can assess the economic benefits of components, and used the Product Backlog and Sprint Backlog approach to break 10 components into 10 PBIs and 100 SBIs. Completing one PBI is the definition of an “Increment,” and an Increment takes one month, so the goal is to report to the boss every month and achieve Inspection… applying the theory step by step to my current work. We settled on completing the blueprint for the top three Product Goals within three months, following up on progress with team members two to three times a week, getting improvement feedback from the boss in a monthly report, and carrying what needs improvement into the next Product Goal, which realizes the Sprint Retrospective.
In this one hour, Roger, who knew nothing about my job or our business model, helped me create a workable Agile model. The session exceeded my expectations of a coaching session, practically walking me through applying theory to work, and let me truly understand the importance of coaching sessions and the spirit of Scrum.
In fact, the weekly meetings, the monthly reports, and the product goals were all existing practices already. The reason we wanted to learn management tools was to use more effective methods, within our fixed ways of working, to examine problems at work and find answers. And Scrum does not teach us to find answers; it teaches us how to ask the right questions efficiently and use the right methods to solve problems.
Finally, back to the beginning, when the coach asked me: why do I want a raise?
After the session, as I write this reflection, I suddenly see that what I am really pursuing is self-actualization in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs; I had simply fallen into the cliche of defining the degree of self-actualization by the size of a salary. I realized that what I want is not just the number in my bank book, but whether I can use Scrum to replicate my rules of thumb so that more people can put them into practice, helping newcomers, or working people like me who have reached middle age and hit difficulties, to shorten their time against the wall, break out of old work patterns, approach problems from the right direction quickly, and speed up the cycle of finding answers, developing the product best suited to users and achieving the company’s business goals, thereby reaching a stage of self-actualization along the way.
22/04/17 ACP31 Sharon “How to Resolve Subjective Issues Among Senior Agile Members” Coaching Session Feedback
Today’s coaching session was truly very helpful to me!!
From the start, Roger peeled back the layers one by one, from the background of the problem to the roles involved, the mindset, and the difficulties encountered. It showed me that when facing a problem situation, I can analyze and develop it this way, begin with the end in mind, and rationally find a solution. It also uncovered blind spots in my thinking, and I was pleasantly surprised that it echoed what I am learning in the ACP Agile course and could be applied in practice.
In terms of building the right mindset, at the end of the session we did a ritual of positive belief. Besides calming my mood, it led me to the belief that would help me solve the problem: make the project succeed. The vision seen in that belief and ritual creates the drive to try to solve the problem, replacing the passive attitude that had stalled for one to two months.
I therefore highly recommend Roger’s coaching sessions to everyone. I believe the benefits, in both thinking and mindset, are substantial, and can be applied to handling other situations as well.
22/03/12 CSM Class 43 Eric Yang “How to Help Colleagues Understand and Accept Agile” Coaching Session Feedback
Hello everyone, I am Eric Yang, a student of CSM Class 43, in the course taught by Lance. The CSM course gave me a clearer understanding of Agile development’s contributions and advantages to the software industry, and made me more interested in Agile development.
I have already registered for the PMI-ACP exam, and I hope to earn the certification in the end so that I can go further on the road of Agile development.
In today’s coaching session, I am truly grateful to Roger for using a guided approach that let me say what was in my heart myself, bringing out thoughts buried deep inside, and so arrive at the final answer on my own.
The biggest problem I face right now is how to help the team adopt Agile development. Team members are used to traditional development processes and show a fairly high degree of resistance to Agile.
Today, through guidance, Roger helped me clarify several approachable, relatively low-barrier ways to introduce Agile development to team members, so that they recognize its advantages, come to agree with Agile, then accept Agile, and finally practice Agile.
These are perspectives and ideas I had not thought of before the session. From now on, I will put these ideas and methods into practice one by one.
The greatest connection between Agile development and my own life values is this: if introducing Agile lets our work be full of passion, lets us deliver on time, and lets us meet customer needs in shorter and less time, then we can save more time to focus on the self-actualization of team members, and let team members, myself included, have better experiences with family, friends, and life.
Finally, beyond introducing Agile development to team members, I hope to promote it to more people in the future, including friends and colleagues around me, to influence more people and let them know that Agile development is not out of reach, nor something placed on an altar, but something each of us can reach for every single day.
It is a way of thinking. It is a spirit. It is called Agile development.
22/04/12 CSM Class 43 Megumi “Finding a Different Way of Thinking Through a Coaching Session” Coaching Session Feedback
I was actually very nervous at the start of my coaching session with Roger, but under his professional guidance I gradually relaxed and could chat as easily and pleasantly as with a friend.
Once I was relaxed, I could calmly bring up the many questions in my mind. At first my question was too broad, and the more I talked the more scattered it became; I could not find the point at all. Roger patiently used a guided approach to help me gradually focus the question and, step by step, find its real root cause.
Through coaching-style conversation, you really can learn a lot and also discover your own shortcomings and things you would never normally think of. This requires several sessions, organizing your thoughts and taking stock of the logic between the problem points and what you have described. If you do this well, it can be a great help in both work and life.
Finally, I truly feel that one hour is not enough. I wanted to ask more and clarify more of my thinking. If I had met coaching sessions earlier, I would certainly have hit far fewer walls and avoided many wasted detours.
22/01/26 Molly “How Can a Contractor Introduce Agile” Coaching Session Feedback
After the coaching session with Roger, I realized that you may first need to have an answer in mind for the question you want to ask, and present it in a structured way with bullet points. In a coaching session, if you first organize your thoughts and present them logically and systematically, then once the coach understands your information, he can quickly grasp the situation and background of the participant, then get to know each other through the conversation and guide the participant into a broader dialogue, so you are less likely to get stuck on one point.
The biggest takeaway for me was being able to understand both the client side and the contractor side of the Agile projects I am driving, and to take in more perspectives, so that there are more ways to look at one matter instead of always standing at one level or one point. Point-to-point is the best way, but moving from point-to-point to thinking more broadly in terms of point, line, and plane was the greater help this coaching session gave the participant.
CEO Vision Blueprint
23/06/20 Yimei Chemical General Manager Kile’s Journey of Inspiration “From Doubt to Full of Energy” Coaching Session Feedback
First, I sincerely thank Roger for giving me the chance to experience my first one-on-one coaching session. For me, this session was like re-entering those situations with the coach and describing what actually happened once more. In the process, Roger asked questions in his own unique way that led me to think deeply: Is this situation really like this? Why does it happen this way? Is there a better way to resolve it?
We kept re-examining these common situations and tried to rethink them with different ways of thinking and different decisions, looking for new solutions. Yet the discussion stopped at the thinking stage. According to the Agile spirit, we must actually step onto this new path to see whether we can get different results, discover what is lacking, then correct and try again.
Roger: Suppose you had not come for this consultation and practiced Agile based on your own understanding. What would have happened?
Kile: I believe that, because of my conservative nature, I would not have made any progress. In fact, I have been waiting for a “perfect” moment to explain the true meaning of Agile to everyone. Before giving my talk, I wanted to internalize it and become very familiar with it, and then explain it to colleagues in a compelling, concise way. But in truth the perfect moment never exists, and the best moment is now. We can start talking from now, telling everyone that I took a course and earned a certificate, and letting them understand what the true meaning and spirit of Agile are.
After today’s coaching session, I will find a team to actually run a project, while regularly scheduling time for them to watch related videos and deeply understand Agile concepts. However, the real world differs from student days; in the workplace we learn by doing. So I think the concept of Agile fits very well with the logic of “learning by doing.”
Roger: How do you think your understanding of Agile from the course differs from the Agile we have actually discussed?
Kile: I think the two are markedly different. The Agile learned in the course was about understanding a new concept through the class, grasping the spirit and feasible practices of Agile, and then working hard to pass the exam and earn the certificate. After the course ended, however, I began to think about how to introduce Agile, and even though we did some hands-on practice in class, I still found it hard to imagine how to apply Agile in practice and did not know where to begin.
Through today’s discussion with Roger, I realized I can actually start introducing Agile from anywhere, depending on how I approach it. At the same time, to get twice the result with half the effort, I will first pick a project that I can control well and that is not too difficult as my first practice, then evaluate repeatedly step by step, and finally take on the biggest problem. The Agile I understood in the course differs slightly from the Agile I understood in our actual discussion, because Agile in the course was like a single event, whereas Agile in the real world is more like an infinite game.
This coaching session left me deeply inspired. I am starting to see the possibility of introducing Agile, and I welcome this challenge full of energy. I look forward to growing together with my team on the Agile journey and gradually achieving outstanding results.
22/05/18 Former TOEIC General Manager Wang Xingwei “From Confusion to Clarity, From Indifference to Full of Energy” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Wang Xingwei. I retired in 2015, and from 2018 to 2022, at the invitation of a friend’s consulting firm, I served as an instructor and consultant for goal management and OKR courses. Over these three years, I have found that OKR brings greater and greater benefits to learners and clients, so I hoped to shift my course business to be primarily online. That is why I had this conversation with Coach Roger! Coach Roger told me that, as a coach, he would not give me any answers. He would only discuss and uncover issues, and observe and guide me to explain more deeply, and to imagine solutions, across different possibilities on my own!
Background of the topic for the conversation:
My courses were originally centered on in-person classes, but because of the pandemic they gradually shifted to online courses. Online courses are more fiercely competitive, though, and enrollment is less stable, so I have had many thoughts and discussions about long-term strategy and tactics. Every option has its pros and cons, and I was somewhat confused about how to decide!
1. What I gained from the conversation:
The first part of the conversation, 90 minutes, was a rational discussion. Under the principle of not giving answers, Coach Roger enabled me to see my situation completely clearly on the rational level, and I also objectively developed the main strategy and discovered the projects and difficulties this strategy might involve! Finally, drawing on the resources and conditions I have, I completed a feasible plan, and my confusion index dropped from 10 before the conversation to 0 after it.
The second part of the conversation, 30 minutes, was empowerment. Coach Roger used NLP methods to guide me through a kind of imagining and visualization, so that I could look at my own courses from a future perspective and from a higher dimension! To my great surprise, during the visualization I discovered that, beyond conveying knowledge and improving business management ability, my courses can offer clients and students much more calm and peace.
2. My reflections on the conversation
The results of the 90-minute conversation astonished me, because when I explore a topic on my own, the framework is unclear, I am also a stakeholder, so it is hard to be objective, and there is no outside force to manage such an exploration and discussion, so I end up stuck in denial and vagueness! But through the 90-minute coaching conversation, you can see a different perspective and gain objectivity, rationality, and imagination. So the feasible plan for the topic came together naturally! The calm and peace I discovered in the second part were completely beyond my imagination. In a coaching conversation, this shifting of perspective and raising of dimension is extremely useful, and it is not something you can get by thinking alone, or by discussing with colleagues or family!
So the results of the first, rational part of the coaching conversation today had already surprised me, and the discoveries of the second, more emotional part can only be described as “amazing”!
3. Closing words
So Roger is truly a master of coaching conversations, and I am very grateful for the two hours he spent with me today. If you have the chance, be sure to find Coach Roger for a coaching conversation as soon as you can.
22/02/07 US Engineering Consulting Firm (250 employees) Managing Director Frank “How to Adopt Agile” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Frank, Managing Director of the Taiwan branch of a US engineering consulting firm, and I have held this position for more than ten years. The one-hour Agile coaching session with Coach Roger gave me a great deal of inspiration and benefit. He did not give me answers, but he helped me think through the problems I face in adopting Agile and helped me find the answers myself, which I think is a wonderful process. In this process, I could see the environment I am in more easily, because the person who knows it best is only ever myself. As he accompanied me, he used a guiding approach that quickly let me see my organization’s problems, the problems I am facing, and why these changes are needed… When he asked about my motivation for wanting to succeed, I realized that I long for my organization to succeed, not for myself to succeed. I think this is the greatest takeaway from a coaching session.
Although Coach Roger is not from my industry, and the average CEO also has plenty of success experience and strong opinions, his coaching approach still helped me solve my problem. In fact, I feel this is another professional skill that is even more worth learning. I once heard a case of a coach who trained a hockey team and later coached a basketball team to a national championship. I think the key lies in the coaching approach, not in industry know-how.
22/04/03 Multinational Company (800+ employees) CEO Y “Positive Belief and the Power to Move Forward” Coaching Session Feedback
I believe many people have had this experience: after climbing Qingtiangang for two hours and walking down the mountain, a gentle breeze brushes your face, and you feel refreshed and at ease in both body and mind! Yes, during the April holiday weekend I was honored to arrange an executive coaching consultation with Master Roger, and after the consultation I fully experienced this kind of cool refreshment at the level of the spirit! Thinking back, in the days before the coaching session I still felt a little nervous, but since I had come, I decided to make the best of it, and idle worry is useless, so I simply handed my thoughts over entirely to the coach!
After a brief warm-up with some small talk, a series of Roger’s questions began:
Question 1: What score would you give your current leadership right now? 50-60
Question 2: What result do you want to achieve through coaching?
Question 3: If you achieve the expected result of this session, what would that feel like?
Next, from different angles, Roger had me explore the reasons behind my weak leadership and assign a percentage to each according to its impact, and then guided me to think about which were people factors and which were problems with the matter itself… Using this cross-referencing approach of peeling back layers, he helped me with inner exploration and awareness… If I want to raise my leadership from 50 now to a satisfying 80-90, what improvements can I make?… Throughout the process we alternately converged and diverged, and as expected, I found my own blind spots.
A typical coaching process would have been about done at this point, but just as the coach was preparing to wrap up, I suddenly asked Roger to help me build a “positive belief,” and another series of questions followed: If in the future your team has completed the mission you set, how do you feel? Where are you at that moment? Bring that feeling back to the present: how do you feel right now? This series was like a staircase, climbing step by step to find the ultimate goal, and then, beginning with the end in mind, sending an inner belief from the future back to my present self… This whole exercise made me exclaim again and again. It not only ignited the passion in my heart, but also greatly raised my vision and sense of scale to that of my higher self. It let me keep surpassing myself in my thinking, and it is exactly this cool refreshment… that gave me great positive belief and the power to move forward.
After the session, Roger immediately shared the NLP logical levels with me, which explained that the belief-building dialogue in the previous section had already come close to guidance at the top level of spirituality or energy, and I also drew my own life mission journey. I suddenly felt that once my life goal was set, my heart became firmer and more grounded, and when I widen my perspective, I can see the beauty of the whole picture, rather than being tangled up in a single small dot..
Once I had fully built trust and a basis for dialogue with the coach, the next step was to entrust my feelings entirely to the coach’s guidance. In this coaching conversation, besides the relaxed and enjoyable dialogue experience and learning the coach’s techniques, I also received great inspiration and admiration at the level of life coaching from this magical journey of the heart. Thank you, Roger!

Career Change
22/06/04 Taipei-166 Lexie “Clearing the Fog Around My Career Change Direction” Coaching Session Feedback
Many thanks to Roger for offering the opportunity for a coaching session. I took the PMP exam precisely because I needed a career change, so I booked the session without hesitation. Thank you, Roger, for questions that broke through my own limiting beliefs, opened up more ways of thinking, and steadied my belief in the future I imagine.
Through questions, Roger tried to break me out of my old paths of thinking and opened up a possible way for me. Through a series of cross-conversations, we dug into deeper issues step by step, took stock of the difficulties I am currently facing, and clarified the problem itself. This was very important to me, because in the midst of a fog, sometimes you do not even know what the “problem” is, and only by asking the right question do you have a chance of finding a suitable answer.
Next came ranking: strengths and abilities, industry, expected job conditions, and so on, and the weight of each item emerged. These are also the key directions for developing my resume, searching for openings, and preparing for interviews.
After the combined stocktaking and ranking process, the direction became clearer and clearer. Roger then guided me on how to find methods, using the resources I already have: who can I ask about this question, and which outside experts? Through Roger’s guiding questions, we clarified the directions for action one by one.
Unexpectedly, Roger added extra time and led me through a mindfulness meditation, connecting with myself two months, one year, and two years from now, and I met a clear picture, the situation and mental state of that time. Then, bringing my awareness back to the present, I thought about how my present self differs from my future self: what do I have that I do not have now?
I think this is a wonderful way of thinking, because when these hopes for the future are presented ever more concretely and clearly and can be described explicitly, looking back, they put me in a higher vantage point and help me make more decisions that suit my present. Connecting with my future self felt full of bright energy, and it greatly increased my confidence and steadiness in the career change process.
22/04/27 ACP30 Esther “A Midlife Career Crisis?” Coaching Session Feedback
In fact, just deciding whether to arrange a coaching session took me quite a while, because although I knew I was in a work slump, I kept circling in feelings of loss and could not take even one small step forward.
At the start of the session, I joked to the coach that I might be facing a “midlife crisis,” because I was dissatisfied with my current job but still could not decide whether to resign and start the next stage of my career.
We began by getting to know me. In more than 20 years of work, I have been conscientious and fully committed, and I have always done a little more than people expected of me. As a result I have earned recognition from supervisors, colleagues, peers, and others in my industry, as well as an income that lets me enjoy a comfortable life.
As for my current job, in my previous role I felt I had reached a peak, and out of the belief in developing talent, I proactively proposed to my boss that I hand over the role. A training plan followed, and after I helped the new person get established, I was promoted to take charge of a new scope of responsibilities. And this is exactly where my present predicament lies.
The new assignment is similar to a PMO: I am responsible for driving the company’s transformation, yet I am facing unprecedented challenges, including the high “silos” within the organization, the lack of anyone truly accountable for the new strategy, and a company habit of heavy planning, standardization, and belief in the power of replicating past success; yet the new strategy is highly uncertain and exploratory, which makes it extremely thorny.
Just in the process of introducing myself and describing my experience, I had already begun to gain insight into and understanding of my current predicament. During the session, in each segment, Roger would say just one or two simple sentences that distilled my core feelings, which also let me advance step by step into that fog of murky, gloomy emotion, whose core was the fear of temporarily losing my confidence!
In fact, Coach Roger did not give me answers. Instead, through deep conversation he prompted inward exploration and set my capacity for action in motion. Through all of life’s and society’s experiences we have already accumulated a great deal of wisdom and ability, but in a moment of confusion we fall into an alley of fear, and thereby lose the freedom to think and the key that starts our energy.
The session actually ran longer than planned, and I am very grateful for Roger’s time and patience. Beyond the “pointing out the way” during the session, at the end he also used a positive-energy technique to help me remember the look and the feeling of future success. I secretly learned it too, and I use quiet reflection and meditation to find the drive to take the next step.
22/ 04/29 Taipei-167 Anne “How to Write a Compelling PM Resume” Coaching Session Feedback
Hello everyone, I am Anne. I am delighted that right after passing the PMP exam I could join Roger’s coaching session. The conversation with Roger was very relaxed, and I could quickly establish an achievable goal. The whole process was a very special experience for me.
In the first half hour of the session, after Roger led me to quickly find a clear, executable goal, he began to guide me step by step through completing it by asking questions. Along the way, through his questions, Roger helped me clarify the points I had not thought through or had not considered, helped me reach a conclusion at every stage, and led me to find my own direction and answers.
At the end of the session, Roger had me close my eyes and do a simple exercise in positive thinking, imagining myself from now to one year and two years later, having achieved the goals I had set, and he guided me to say how I felt after achieving them and what abilities I had gained. When I opened my eyes at the end, amazingly, my once cluttered state of mind had all settled, and my head held a very clear direction for the next three years. I felt a sense of relief, and I, who had not known how to go on, found an answer. I am truly, truly grateful for Roger’s guidance today.
If you ask me how the coaching session differed from what I had imagined a coaching session to be,
I will tell you, it was truly very different from what I imagined.
I had originally imagined a coaching session to be like a scene with a high school guidance counselor, where the teacher’s sense of authority is rather strong. Only after the session did I find out that, through guidance, in just one hour to an hour and a half, you can very efficiently accomplish two things: confirm your own direction and build ways to put it into practice. In the friendly back-and-forth of Roger’s questions and answers, you will be guided to solve the problems in your own heart yourself and become a better you.
22/04/16 Online-166 Jo “How I Find My Future Career Direction” Coaching Session Feedback
Today I had a coaching session with Roger. The session was mainly about choosing the main area of my life. In my career development, I have never known which direction to head in, and so I also did not know which field to put effort into.
Roger understood my background and values, and through a series of questions and answers helped me clarify my thoughts and needs, or see that perhaps a choice already existed in my heart and I simply could not see it clearly.
After the session, the problem in my heart may still feel somewhat far from me, but I am no longer completely without a clue. I now have a goal I can move toward, one that lets me begin making a plan and advance steadily toward it, and I even have more imagination about my future, which gives me more motivation to work hard toward the future I want.
Thank you, Roger, for giving me the opportunity for a coaching session. I gained a great deal, and I will work hard toward my goal. At the same time, I encourage everyone to seize this rare opportunity for a session with Roger, as you will get unexpected rewards.
22/03/02 SM Bible Volunteer Kathryn “Start a Business or Get a Job” Coaching Session Feedback
Hello everyone, I am Kathryn, a member of Group 5 and a certified business management consultant of the China Productivity Center. Today I asked Roger to run a coaching session for me. Here I gained a very clear direction for myself. Our topic today was: start a business or go to work. During Roger’s coaching process, I found the meaning of starting a business. Roger used an open-ended approach to guide me to quickly find very clear answers on points that had puzzled me for a long time, and then presented the comparison results in a quantified, numerical way. When I saw the quantified results, my doubts were completely dispelled, and I felt a sudden sense of clarity.
I feel that in a coaching session, we can find very clear, very distinct results in areas where we are very vague, and this is my greatest takeaway. If I had not asked Roger for help today, I might still be going around in circles looking for my answer. In fact I have been working on this and searching for an answer all along, strictly speaking for three or four years, but I never found it. Yet after spending one hour with Roger, I found exactly the answer I wanted, which is truly amazing! Thank you, Roger, for your precious one hour, which turned my confusion into sudden clarity!
22/04/06 Online 166 Cathy “How to Find a Job Where I Want to Put Down Roots” Coaching Session Feedback
Hello everyone, I’m Cathy. Throughout my career, I have never been able to stay in one job for more than four years; every so often I feel the urge to change paths. Compared with colleagues who have stayed at a company for over 20 years, my accomplishments simply don’t measure up, and I have always envied how they could stay at one company for more than 20 years. Did they never once think about leaving along the way? I kept asking myself what was wrong with me, but I could never find an answer. Today, thanks to Roger’s coaching session, I finally found it.
I felt Roger was like a spiritual mentor who led me to dig out the problems hidden in my subconscious, some of which I may not have dared to face. Through his gentle guidance, I naturally began to say the things that were buried in my heart. These problems were really like the heavens setting me the same exam question again and again, and I kept failing it. Today, Roger led me to peel back the layers and analyze what that question actually is, which helped me find a way to solve it and understand clearly what decision I should make. However, because my confidence and courage were lacking, Roger added a bonus for me: an NLP goal-setting exercise built around a ritual of positive belief, which helped me see a future vision I could never have imagined on my own. Through this ritual, my confidence in myself grew, and at the subconscious level I told myself that I am great and have a real chance of reaching the vision I want.
Before the coaching session, I was still hesitating over whether I should change paths and could not make up my mind, but after the conversation I found the courage to decide. I am truly fortunate: not only did I pass the PMP at PM.ABC, but with Roger’s help I also regained my confidence and the courage to face my next step. I will remember Roger’s encouragement, take back the glorious feeling I once had as a graduate of a top school, and bravely step out of my comfort zone to make a decision I will never regret.
22/04/02 Online 166 Qianqian “Between Life Vision and Career Choices” Coaching Session Feedback
I’m Qianqian from Online 166. Today I had a coaching session with Roger, and the main theme was career choice. In making my career choice, I am currently facing a conflict between my life vision and my life principles and behavior.
Through a series of guided questions, Roger successfully got me to rethink the weights on the scale in my mind, and to ask whether there might be a third option beyond black and white: what efforts, or even remedial actions, could I try to reduce the losses on each side and reach a balance point?
So after today’s session, although my issue is still a challenge for me, it is no longer purely a problem. I have opened up a much larger space for thinking, which lets me refine possible future actions in more detail, and I look forward even more to finding a balance in this challenge, an approach and an answer I am satisfied with.
So I am quite grateful to Roger. Today he hit the key points in many places and asked about my doubts, letting me explore my own thoughts for myself.
In addition, my summary of this coaching session has three key points.
First, Roger’s listening was extremely important. At the start, Roger listened to my account, and throughout the discussion he listened for the experiences of pride or grievance I had. Through his listening, while I was venting, I re-sorted and straightened out my thoughts.
Second, standing from a different angle: during the session, Roger took a relatively objective vantage point, acting like the scale in my mind, constantly asking about my various considerations, asking where I would place each choice on the scale and how many chips I would use to balance the various options. From a relatively objective and neutral standpoint, he allowed me to arrive at my own weights and balance for each of the conflicts.
These first two points straightened out my thinking and also helped me rank each point of conflict.
Based on these two conclusions, with the third point I knew my true choice, how to tie it to my life goals, and how to do so without clashing with my other values. This matters enormously to me.
In summary, had I had this coaching session with Roger half a year ago, I believe I would already be on the road to my vision now, and I could have saved the more than six months I spent tangled up, or perhaps never needed to worry at all. I could have balanced all my thoughts at a very early stage and found the method best suited to me to carry out. Thank you, Roger, for today’s coaching session, and I encourage fellow students to seize the chance to have a session with Roger.
22/03/03 SM Bible Volunteer Victoria “A Shift in Mindset Beyond Imagination” Coaching Session Feedback
I’m Victoria, a passionate, friend-loving girl from the south of Taiwan. My specialty is sales, and I am currently learning alongside everyone on the SM Bible team, hoping to grow into a management role and become a leader with real influence.
In this coaching session, Roger gave me a great deal of positive energy. He is a guiding light who helped me see that every step I have taken in life leaves a traceable path. If you are someone with goals and a vision, none of that will be erased, and everything happens for a reason. A coaching session makes people without confidence more confident, and for those who already have confidence, I imagine it makes their confidence soar.
Before the session, I had a wavering choice in mind and did not know what to pick. After the session, I know much better which path I want to take. I am more certain it is not just a floating idea; I am more firmly committed to the direction I want to go and clearer about what I can do, which lets me arrange my short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals, and I am even more certain that my choice is not wrong.
I had some uncertain thoughts, and after the coaching session with Roger they became very clear and definite. He does not give you answers, but he makes you think about what you truly want most deep down, drawing out the deepest desire in your heart. It is not a vague picture of the future but a very clear and specific image. Once you can picture it, the blueprint in your heart emerges clearly. So I truly found this coaching session extremely useful; it made me more sure of myself, made me realize what I can do, and made me more optimistic about my future.
22/02/27 CSM43 Xiaozhu “Mental Preparation Before an Interview” Coaching Session Feedback
Through this one-hour coaching session with Coach Roger, I feel I gained a great deal, far beyond what I expected. Perhaps because I am somewhat lost about my career choices at the moment, a chance to talk with an experienced person was already a good opportunity. But today’s conversation went far beyond my expectations.
I may not have been very clear about the direction I wanted to pursue before, but Coach Roger drew out my truest views through coaching, then gave me “affirmation” and very professional advice. I found this guidance very easy to accept, because it was derived from my own perspective rather than imposed on my thinking. The coach used an encouraging and motivating approach to let me see my career path. I found the whole conversation especially comforting, and my drive became especially strong.
At the end, the coach also gave me many highly practical interview techniques and pieces of knowledge, which was exactly what I especially needed at this time. I feel that a coach can give me, one-on-one, so much of what I need.
If I had not mustered the courage to approach the coach myself, first, I might have lacked confidence and resolve, and I would have been more lost in changing jobs. But through the coaching session, the coach made me feel that the direction I am heading in matches my own expectations and what I want, and I will pursue it with more confidence.
Second, regarding interviews, I will understand the interviewer’s thinking much better. I will know how to present myself better and do so with more confidence, with a sense of knowing both the other side and myself, rather than showing off things I merely assume I should show. Most importantly, I should show more of the intangible: my attitude, confidence, and overall character. This is very practical and can be applied immediately to my upcoming interviews.

22/12/23 Kevin Coaching Session Feedback
Have you heard of a Coach?
Quite a few people in the communities I engage with are learning coaching skills. This week I tried my first coaching session ever, and the topic was career-related. As for what I pursue in life, the resources I have, my expectations and capability options, the people and things I value most, the possible obstacles, and so on, I had already worked them out in my head (blame my PM mindset, haha).
#Coaching Session
In this session, I first introduced my background and life goals, my current career choices, and the outcome I hoped to achieve; then we briefly confirmed my education and work experience, and then, seamlessly, we slipped into coaching mode.
What are the strengths of each path?
What do I value most?
What do my family value most?
What would I regret not having done?
What obstacles stand in the way of moving forward?
Why do these matter to you?
How do I score and rank each item?
How does it feel looking at it now, and what conclusion would I draw?
I spent half a year thinking about my next career step, and in fact I had thought through all of these questions. But a good coach guides you systematically in a pressure-free state. Even if you already have an outline of the structure in your head, being able to re-organize everything you think and “say it out completely” within an hour is itself a huge gain.
#What Is the Function of a Coach?
. First establish inner quiet, so that the session takes place in a peaceful state of mind
. Through questions, help you become self-aware about whether every link has been considered
. The coaching process is not an answer but a direction
Thank you to Roger Chou, for this valuable coaching session opportunity. Throughout the entire process he gave me no answers; he guided me through questions, and he even typed up a record of my thought process so I would not forget the earlier parts while thinking about the later ones. (Note: I was not told about this at first, to avoid people who see the text becoming unsure of what to say and afraid to speak.)
#Reflections After the Coaching Session
The question that left the deepest impression was: “Do you remember the purpose of the coaching session at the beginning?” This question is especially simple and especially good. Don’t get so busy that you drift off course without knowing it; review constantly, and constantly check whether your words and actions are consistent with your “ultimate purpose”!
Reviewing my own priorities and content, I still find confusion and contradictions in the definitions. This is also a blind spot in capability or perspective that one person’s output in a short time may have; this part can be filled in by the team power of a “World Café,” and by consulting senior people with specialized expertise or relevant experience.
Coaching questioning technique is worth investing in learning. It has many areas of application, and there are many coaching tools that can be used in workplace and daily conversations, so it fits well with one’s main job. Thanks again, Roger, for a wonderful Christmas gift!
22/10/28 Yulon Group Carrey Coaching Session Feedback
Before the coaching session with Roger, our expectation was “that Roger would use his knowledge and experience in project management to give Yulon Energy practical solutions to the problems we are currently encountering in project management.”
At the start of the session, Roger said: “In a coaching session, the coach does not give any answers, and I am not as familiar with every industry as the participants who work in it. In this session I am acting as a coach, not a consultant.”
When we heard this, our hearts sank halfway. We thought, “We wanted Roger to give us suggestions on our problem points, so what is the point of this online session?”
Then Roger began, through questions, to guide us to name our current problem points and asked us to rank them by importance. Through this guided process, we actually came up with problem points we had never thought of before, and they went straight to the core of the issue.
But once the problem points had surfaced and been listed one by one, we still had no solutions! Roger again used questions to ask us to think outside the box and guided us to sort things out and think for ourselves, and the solutions to those problems were, once again, spoken one by one by ourselves. Moreover, with the ranking by priority, if the few core problems were solved, the other smaller problems would no longer be problems at all. And we took less than one hour to find the root problem and the countermeasures for the bottleneck our company had long faced in project management, yet Roger did not analyze anything for us, search for answers for us, or give us any countermeasures!
Throughout the coaching session, Roger never used difficult project management jargon; instead he used relaxed, practical examples so that we clearly understood the questions he was asking, so the one-hour session was completed in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. In this atmosphere, and under Roger’s guidance, participants can truly think outside the box without baggage or pressure about the core problems they had always ignored, hidden, or been unwilling to face.
We are truly happy to have had this opportunity to meet with Roger, and we gained a great deal. The doubts and unease that arose in us from Roger’s clear reminders at the very beginning, “I am acting as a coach, not a consultant” and “I am not as familiar with your industry as you are,” turned out not to be problems at all. I believe that with this kind of session, problems in any industry have a chance of being uncovered and countermeasures found. The answers were already in our hearts, and Roger merely helped us face the voice within ourselves and let the clouds part to reveal the sun.
22/10/25 ITPM George Coaching Session Feedback
First of all, thank you to Roger for taking time out of his busy schedule to guide me.
After many attempts to improve, I still could not effectively raise my reading efficiency after work. Failing again and again, every time bedtime came I was often filled with regret and melancholy over wasted time, and at a loss for what to do, I had no choice but to seek outside help. Thank you, Roger, for being willing to take me on as your client, giving me the opportunity to face my own problem and reflect anew.
During the session, whenever I described my goals, I would end up stumbling over my words, and Roger would repeat my statements, trying to string together the logical thinking that should be there; where I could not connect the dots, Roger would guide me to refine my path so that it connected smoothly.
When asking about my current situation, Roger used a quantitative approach to get me to think about my circumstances in the past, present, and future in reaching my goal, so that I could clearly see the level of my situation.
Next, Roger began guiding me to think about what plans I could draw up, given my current situation, to escape my predicament. Whenever my mind shut down and I tried to brush things off, Roger would pull me back, pressing me, seizing every gap, to give just one plan; once I finished one, he would not let me off the hook and made me think of another. What supervision mechanism or constraint would there be? Set a schedule. When I reach the preset goal, what self-reward method would I use?
Once the goal is reached, we again used a quantified view of the deliverable outcomes. Finally, there was actual execution, and because of the self-made guidelines refined step by step as above, and the clearly visible implementation steps, seeing myself already successful greatly boosted my confidence, and I am quite eager to get started.
Thanks to Roger’s guidance, with the principle of providing no methods or answers, I groped my way out of a fog and found several paths. The knots in my heart were loosened, and having loosened them, I now follow the guidelines Roger drew out of me to carry out my release. I cannot help but admire Roger’s skill. Thank you for your help, Roger!
22/10/06 Tianpin Technology Co., Ltd. Owner Lillian Coaching Session Feedback
I’m Lillian. My company specializes in the special processing of EMI shielding materials, thermal conductive materials, graphite, graphene, cushioning materials, insulating materials, and other special double-sided tapes for 3C products. I have been in this industry for 35 years, and I have been running my own business for 28 years!
After graduating from the graduate school of Fu Jen Catholic University, I had an opportunity to teach part-time at Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, and this is already my third semester! It was also because of teaching part-time at Lunghwa that I developed the “idea” of continuing on to a doctoral program.
However, I am a novice in the academic world and had little knowledge about choosing a doctoral program. Which school should I choose? How should I choose an advisor? I felt I had no direction or leads at all, and suddenly a person appeared in my mind, “Roger,” like a guiding light!
I contacted him right away, and Roger kindly agreed to give me a coaching session!
In the session with Roger, besides giving me professional academic guidance, Roger first asked me a few questions to confirm my own original motivation, which is where the drive to strengthen my effort toward the goal comes from. Throughout the process, Roger did not give answers to my questions; instead, through professional analysis he helped me find the answers myself, leading me to the direction that suits me. Only when the goal is clear and the direction is right will you not get stuck in the mire!
Pursuing a doctorate was originally just an “idea.” Because I lacked confidence in myself, I did not dare to think about it; I could only daydream. After the session with Roger, my goals and the direction of my efforts are now clear, and my confidence has greatly increased. Thank you, Roger, for your leadership and guidance!
22/09/03 CMS51 Chen “How Do I Find My Drive in Life When I Feel Lost?” Coaching Session Feedback
I chose this topic for my coaching session for two reasons. The first was that I wanted to satisfy both my work and my life, and find my goals at the same time. The second was that, as a department head, I wanted to be able to help my colleagues find their drive when they feel lost, using the approach I experienced today.
Through some coaching-style questions, Roger drew out of me many things I want to do, some urgent and some important, on top of everyone’s expectations of me and my own expectations of myself. When there are too many things, it is hard for people to see clearly what they should do, and which things are both important and urgent. Through Roger’s conversational approach, he never gave me any answers during the process. Instead, he guided me to say for myself what I truly wanted to achieve, and what others think of me. Does what I am doing now meet everyone’s expectations?
Through Roger’s gentle and patient way of guiding, I came to see step by step where I may need to put in effort, and, looking back, that some things I have actually already accomplished. That lets me focus on the problems I am facing now, the most urgent ones at this stage. If those problems are solved, my confidence will probably come back.
So I feel this helped me enormously. Without today’s session, on top of work and life I would probably have spent a great deal of time finding my drive again and adjusting my mood, wasting a lot of unnecessary energy in the transition.
It also taught me how to guide each colleague or friend who needs help or runs into difficulty in daily life: how to help them find their drive again, how to guide them to speak the truth in their own words, and how to let them do the truly most important thing in a short time. That is roughly it.
If I were to describe what a coach is, I would say it is really just listening and guiding through questions, without giving answers, so that I come to know step by step what it is I actually want to solve. I did not need to know too many details either, because in just a few minutes of simple conversation, we focused on what the difficulty was, and the coach is the role that leads us forward.
A good team truly needs a good coach. I sincerely recommend that everyone talk with Roger. It will definitely be very helpful.
22/7/22 TKB166 Michael Feedback on the Coaching Session
Thank you so much, Roger, for leading me in the coaching session and helping me converge my line of thinking about my problems. By organizing and summarizing things myself, I found a solution that can actually solve the problem and be carried out, rather than a vague answer. This can truly be applied to solving problems. Of course, setting aside how things turn out after implementation, that still depends on the person executing (that is, me), but the help I received in the coaching session exceeded my expectations.
Today’s issues concerned my career and adjusting my team, and I am very grateful for Roger’s guidance, because these problems have troubled me for three to four years, ever since I was still a manager. When I was a specialist, it felt fine, since someone above would solve things anyway. But once I was promoted to manager, I had to face them myself, though at that time it was still lateral communication between peer departments, so the situation was not as awkward as it is now. Now, as a newly appointed vice president, I am in a relatively high position, and if I run into problems and simply demand that other departments cooperate, senior people in those departments may not come to trust and respect me.
Roger: How did the clarity of your problem change before and after the session?
Answer: Before the coaching session, my clarity about these issues was like groping through a fog, at most 3 to 4 out of 10, because I had no good systematic method to break through. After talking with Roger, I feel the outlines and context are already quite clear, and I even know what to do; I have improved to at least 8 or 9. I think all that remains is the actual execution, because only after executing will I know the result.
Roger: It doesn’t matter even if it doesn’t work, because with an Agile mindset you try it first and then adjust. No one is so brilliant as to get a 100-point solution in one go. Also, how was the coaching session different from what you imagined?
Answer: At the start, I had actually written down several questions, thinking I would ask Roger and use his experience sharing or outside feedback to help me find answers. But the actual coaching session was Roger guiding me to summarize the whole matter myself and sort out my thoughts, so the answer I found was not Roger’s answer but one that truly fits my own practical situation. If the coaching session had simply been a student asking questions and a teacher sharing experience and feedback, the answers found that way might not have solved my problems. After all, every company’s situation is different, so I would have had to spend a lot of time verifying them, and I would have doubted whether the approach was feasible myself, making it hard to quickly find a path that truly solves these problems.
22/04/14 Taipei 168 Anna “Applying Agile and Predictive Approaches at Work” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Anna from Taipei 168. Before coming to the coaching session, I had a lot of doubts about whether I could actually apply the knowledge and methods I learned in PMP at work. So I booked a coaching session, hoping to find answers to the various questions I have about my work.
During the session, the coach did not directly give me a solution to my questions. Instead, he guided me to untangle these problems step by step. When facing such problems, I should look for the root cause rather than rushing to apply directly to work practice the solutions I have found during my PMP studies.
Through the guidance, I gradually found a path I can follow, and I also realized that what I learn while studying does not necessarily have to be turned immediately into an exercise for the difficulties I meet in life. After all, among all business and management courses, PMP is only one certification, and there is much more unknown knowledge to explore. As I slowly accumulate these tools, I will be able to face such problems more calmly in the future and prescribe the right remedy.
So I feel this was a wonderful experience. Thank you to the coach for taking the time to discuss the bottlenecks and difficulties I encountered. I believe it can help many more students use PMP concepts more flexibly, whether in life, in practice, or in the exam.
How I felt after the session:
When I first came to the coach, I was actually quite confused. Quantitatively, it was originally an 8, but after the session my mind found some solutions and a clear thread, and it dropped to a 5. After the meditation guidance, everything seemed not so complicated or hard to solve, and my inner confusion dropped to a 2.
Q: With such a big difference, it seems you really felt something in the meditation part. Can you tell us how the meditation at the end differed from your usual meditation?
A: Actually, I already connect with my higher self before sleep and see images of the future, but without guidance I tend to get a bit confused. The coach’s guidance in the middle had me imagine the scene three months out, six months out, and three years out, which makes the imagined scenario more focused.
Q: After coming back from the meditation, you suddenly felt that the question you raised at the start had become simple. I’m curious, why such a big change?
A: Mainly, I was in a very confused state but was not aware that it was happening, so I easily fell into a loop of thinking and did not focus on the changes in my body to notice my inner voice. It is a bit like coding for a long time without figuring out where the problem is; you go out for a walk to clear your head, and when you come back you find the problem is actually very simple and solve it right away!
Q: Your company has many coaches. What differences do you see between their coaching methods and Roger’s?
A: The bigger difference is that Roger has a clearer direction and can clearly guide me toward it, so he is less likely to leave me among many routes to find my own direction and generate lots of ideas for myself. Because I am someone who easily overthinks, I think the coach’s way of guiding is very good, and it lets me focus on one route.
22/05/07 Taipei 166 Minnie “Uncovering the Entanglements and Longings Beneath the Iceberg That Even I Find Hard to Understand” Coaching Session Feedback
In project management, we can judge whether a project is a success by its delivered results and successful closure. After learning project management, I asked myself: on the road of life, can I keep setting goals for myself and judge whether my life is a success or a failure by my present achievements? Life cannot be redone, so how do I avoid failure? Must I never make a wrong decision to count as having achieved “success”? These worries and overthinking meant that even though I wrote out a life wish list, I still hesitated to move forward, and they became a stumbling block to achieving my life vision.
Before the coaching session, I sincerely believed that the question I had asked myself for many years could not possibly get an “answer” right away. My question is a very big one: “How do I make my life vision clear?” I often asked myself this question and answered it myself, then doubted the answer, then changed the answer or had no answer at all. After endless cycles of entanglement, the answer grew ever blurrier, and I could not tell what “answer” I actually wanted.
To dig out my deeper thoughts, the coach asked me to list my wish list. I proudly presented the life wish lists I had accumulated at different ages. Based on these lists, the coach set aside items already achieved and those out of reach, and dug down layer by layer through back-and-forth questions and interaction. The first-layer conclusion about my wish lists was that, in every period, they shared one characteristic: they were built to reflect my state of mind at the time and to satisfy my need for security. The second layer explored what kind of mental state made me so lost about my life vision.
During the session, I found that at first I only presented my most superficial state to the coach and hid the thoughts in my heart that I did not voice. As the coach probed deeper layer by layer, I gradually said things I normally do not tell others and slowly came to understand why the question I had asked myself for so many years had no “answer.” A life vision is not a true-or-false question, nor a multiple-choice question, and there is no so-called correct “answer.” I seemed to be chasing right and wrong, success and failure too much, and neglecting my own inner thoughts. By digging out my inner entanglements and longings through the coaching session, and guiding me to actively think about new “directions” and try to understand the meaning behind each decision, it changed my patterns of behavior and thereby resolved my state of confusion. Perhaps this style of session can be applied to other aspects in the future, to look into my inner thoughts and dig out root problems. Finally, through the ritual of “meditation,” I borrowed some positive energy from my future self to support my present self in making better decisions.
Thank you to the coach for the guidance.
22/05/07 SM Bible Volunteer Chingya Coaching Session Feedback
Before the coaching session began, I had not set any limits for myself, so I felt a bit nervous, and the topics I wanted to discuss were very chaotic and I was unsure about them.
My biggest gain is that Agile coaching can be used to reposition oneself when feeling lost in life. In this process I saw myself anew, and the coach’s affirmation helped me find my true strength again. Even what I thought was my hardest matter could be sorted out afresh, prioritized and repositioned through Agile techniques.
Finally, through Roger’s ritual-like guided meditation on a future scene, I brought back the things I dared not do and dared not think. I used to think I did not dare, that I probably lacked the ability. But how would I know I can’t do it if I haven’t tried? Perhaps a talk for a hundred people or an online lecture for a hundred people, since I have led workshops with more than two hundred people before and managed it then. Moving to the future and beginning with the end in mind, I realized that I am the PO, and I want even more to influence lives with my life.
I have actually known Roger for a very long time, and thank you, Roger, for guiding me to see myself anew and giving rise to the courage to keep going. Perhaps when I publish a book, I could invite Roger to write the foreword, or we could have some conversations about the practical side of the life coaching direction. Thank you again, Roger, for your affirmation. Because I am too close to my own situation to see it clearly, the coach is the third party, and the onlooker sees clearly. Agile coaching and life coaching are truly so powerful. Thank you again for this coaching conversation.
22/05/07 CSM43, CSPO21, ACP31 Jenny “How Can I Rescue My Poor English?” Coaching Session Feedback
Hello everyone, it is my great honor to take part in Roger’s coaching session today.
Before the session, my expectation was to resolve a deep-seated obstacle, both practical and emotional, that I have carried for many years: “How can I rescue my poor English?” This obstacle was especially strongly felt during the ACP training.
In the coaching session, the coach took me back through different stages of my schooling (junior high, senior high, university) to explore the possible reasons my English is not good, and we concluded that I am more of an auditory learner.
(In earlier years, when information and resources were not as abundant, this trait of mine was at a disadvantage.) The coach led me to say for myself that, in today’s age of fast information flow and information at our fingertips, I can try some methods and techniques, and use the techniques in the PM.ABC method to find out how big this obstacle really is.
Through the session, some psychological barriers I have had since junior high have gradually been dissolved.
In the second dimension of today’s session, I was also able to receive different goals and different feelings in my life:
The coach led me to imagine that when I earn a certification (for example, ACP),
how I would perform at that moment, what I would gain, what I would do, and what my situation would be one and a half years later —
The third dimension:
The coach led me in a meditation in which I imagined standing high in the sky receiving energy from the universe, what I saw, what I felt, and what I hoped for. After receiving the energy and filling myself with it, what can I do?
Receiving a beam of light from the universe, I felt the atmosphere around me was very peaceful and warm, and I hoped for world peace and a world without calamity. After internalizing the energy as my own, I hoped I would have the ability to help people in need.
For both the second and third dimensions above — whether it is learning for various certifications or receiving energy from the universe:
After making my abilities stronger, I should become more humble.
Personally: self-fulfillment, self-improvement, benefiting my family.
At work: to lead or support my department colleagues to move upward and forward together, so that their abilities also rise together, which in turn is better for the company (and later raises their incomes as well).
Ultimately: benefiting myself and others, contributing to society, bringing good to humankind, and peace under heaven.
Today I am deeply grateful for Roger’s guidance in the coaching session. It let me resolve an English-learning obstacle of many years and additionally experience different kinds of imagination and meditation.
Today I also once again learned from Roger that “where there is a vow, there is strength; the greater the vow, the greater the strength.”
Thank you again~
I look forward to the next coaching session!!
22/04/30 Online 166 Joanne “How to Change Beliefs and Boost My Confidence in 1.5 Hours” Coaching Session Feedback
I am a person with very little confidence, full of worry and fear in everything I do. I feel this problem is like my personality, something I was born with. I badly want to change, but no matter how hard I try, that unconfident thinking often pops up without my noticing. I cannot control it, and because I find it embarrassing, I thought for a long time before booking a coaching session. Later I read the feedback shared by many senior classmates, all very positive, so I gathered my courage and arranged today’s coaching session.
The coaching session was different from what I had imagined. Roger was very kind and patient. During the session, through listening and guiding me, he helped me dig out the root cause, buried in my heart for many years, of my lack of confidence. I never expected that these events had been stuck inside me for so long; I was still bothered even by something that happened in kindergarten over 30 years ago. Under Roger’s guidance, I was helped to say my own thoughts out loud and clear away the knots in my heart that affect my confidence.
I was lucky, because Roger had no coaching session scheduled afterward. Roger is so kind that he added an NLP subconscious meditation for me. In the subconscious meditation, I gained strong confidence and learned what kind of future I want. The subconscious meditation was extremely helpful for building my confidence; it felt like, once you have seen what your future looks like, what is there left to worry about or fear?
Thank you, Roger, for the coaching session. My confidence level went from only 4 up to 7. Although confidence is just a change in a thought, changing a belief that has been stuck for a lifetime in a short time is no easy matter. Without this coaching session, I would probably still be living every day with extremely low confidence. This coaching session has had a very profound impact on me, and I look forward to living every day of my future with confidence. I also encourage everyone to book a coaching session with Roger. A coaching session can help us improve problems that have been stuck in our hearts for a long time, and help us live the life we want and live out the future we want.

22/03/30 SM Bible Xinhui “A Veteran Rookie’s Transformation Journey” Coaching Session Feedback
I’m Xinhui from Group 2. From PV7 and the SM Bible all the way to the current Retro Bible translation project, I have always been a devoted fan of Roger.
I am very grateful that Roger gave me a coaching session today. We talked about how, after joining a new company with a different industry and a different organizational size and structure, I can take part in the company’s transformation, play a key role, and help open up new territory.
Roger listened to my current situation with great patience and asked questions at the right moments. By answering those questions, I was able to look at things from another angle, and my thinking felt clearer too.
After talking with Roger, I realized I can apply the project management practices I was used to at my previous company to my current work and improve how effectively I manage. I can also use the SM idea of transparency to communicate better. When the team is clear about the goal and about the specific work items, they work with more motivation. I can also use small releases to put out the product in stages, gather feedback, and gradually grow the market.
I had imagined a coaching session would be a relaxed chat. After talking with Roger today, I found that coaching, through two-way interaction and different perspectives, can help you see your blind spots and think things through. Thank you, Roger, for your patient companionship. I now have a much clearer grasp of my direction, and I am more ready to take action!
Career Capability Development
22/08/24 Taipei 170 CANDY “Breaking Through Workplace Blind Spots to Find Goals and Direction” Coaching Session Feedback
I am very grateful for the opportunity to have this conversation with the coach about my career direction. The coach first learned about my past experience, from my student years through entering the workforce to my current workplace, and then moved on to what my present problems are. We first discussed the problems in a divergent way and listed them, then converged to consolidate them. The coach guided me through ranking and judging, and in the end we decided on the topic for today.
First, the coach guided me to clarify the goal I wanted to confirm. We went back and forth comparing my current and future situation at work. Throughout, it was my own voice that spoke; I was the one who told myself what state I should reach, while the coach assisted with questions and pointed out which parts could be optimized and which were my strengths or weaknesses. So the session was mainly my own thinking, and the conclusions came from close discussion with the coach. Once we found a clear goal, we brainstormed how I should improve and optimize this problem area so that it could help my next step.
After we found the goal, the coach guided me again, saying that to add value at work I could work backward from analyzing my supervisor’s core competencies: which abilities I need in order to complement my supervisor’s role, and which abilities I can use to support my supervisor. It also made me realize why I had never thought of doing this kind of analysis and judgment; had I known this method earlier, I might have found the right direction much sooner.
We then built a comparison table of how my supervisor and I complement each other. The coach guided us to ask ourselves what we really think inside, and helped us rank the items ourselves. When the ranking got difficult, the coach guided me and explained patiently, and then, through elimination, we ranked everything again until the order of the next steps was completely clear.
Because I work in a staff role, I am also grateful that the coach spent more than an hour exploring with me, just to help me clarify my direction. I started out confused and unclear, but through the session I went from rating myself 7 out of 10 now, with a chance of reaching 10 in three years, to being set on a goal that gives me drive and tells me where I need to go to achieve the value I want in my career. Before the session, my confidence at work was around 65 out of 100; I knew I had many shortcomings to work on, but where should I even begin? I could only solve problems one at a time as they came up. After the session, my goal is clearer and my confidence has risen to 85, with the remaining 15 left for the unknown challenges ahead. Finally, I am thankful for the chance to clearly find my blueprint for adding value at work in the future, and I can now handle my current role with more confidence. What comes next is working through my checklist step by step to verify whether my blueprint is correct. The coach also asked how I would verify it. The most direct way is the annual performance review and salary and bonus, of course, but adding value to myself is absolutely the right choice. So I highly recommend that fellow students have a coaching session to find their own goals and value. Thank you.
22/08/22 Taipei 170 carly “Coaching Sessions Are Not What You Imagine” Coaching Session Feedback
After my session with Roger, I realized that my career planning was not clear enough. Once things were clarified, almost 80% of the content was something I had never thought about before the session.
What was special is that although we were talking about my career, we also identified which things in my life are equally important, because everyone’s time is limited and should be spent better on the things we treasure.
Please don’t assume the session is about having Roger help you make the best decision. Instead, through the questions Roger keeps asking and the thinking he guides you through, you find the decision that truly belongs to you. You may have thought of these things before, or you may never have thought of them, but you finally find it, and it is your best answer.
Without this session, I might have spent a great deal of time groping around for the soft skills and related knowledge needed to reach my goal. If I had to put a number on it, it could be months or even years, especially if there happens to be no one around you who can guide you.
If I had to describe a coach in one sentence, I would say a coach is a person who points you to the right path. I think a coach is a guide who leads the person being coached onto the best path of their own choosing. I recently happened to read the book “Trillion Dollar Coach,” which tells the story of a former American football coach who became a coach to senior executives in Silicon Valley. If you would like to be coached the way it is described in that book, then find Roger.
22/07/28 TKB2022 Lucas Coaching Session Feedback
I benefited a great deal from today’s session with Roger. I consulted on career planning, and through guided questioning Roger analyzed things layer by layer, helping me understand myself and my needs better, and helping me find the answers within my own heart.
When I think on my own, my vision and mental capacity are limited, and sometimes I stop at the surface. Through guiding and asking questions, Roger helped me gradually draw out my thoughts and needs, and I gained many things I could not have thought of by myself. It also showed me which direction I should think and act toward in the future. Talking with Roger greatly shortened the time it took me to get my answers.
Before, there were many things I was unsure of, so I was a bit timid and did not dare to push forward. After the session, my direction is clearer and I know a few more methods, so I have more motivation and courage to move ahead with this.
If I were to quantify my motivation before and after, the difference would be roughly a 5 versus an 8.
In a session with Roger you can set aside distracting thoughts, and he guides you to where you want to go. Apart from the self-introduction, it is guided questioning, so you do not think about many things at once. When I think by myself, while I am considering problem A, B and C are also in my head; but when Roger asks me a question, I focus only on that question and think about it with 99.99% concentration, and in the end I find my solution or the ranking in my heart.
22/07/10 Taipei 167 Celine “Career Development” Coaching Session Feedback
The shift in my own mindset before and after the coaching session left a particularly deep impression. At first, having seen many classmates share their session experiences, I joined with a mix of curiosity and uncertainty. After going through the session, what I found especially interesting was that Roger used a method of dissecting, step by step guiding us to analyze and rank in more detail the goals we had thought were already very clear. It felt like walking, layer by layer, into my own inner world, noticing and reflecting on what these goals mean to me and how they affect me.
Along the way, Roger led us to imagine our long-term goals, to walk into the future and see what it looks like, and to see our own actions in every frame of the picture. What felt special was discovering that my goals really do fit with my future, and it felt as if they would become real for me in the very near future. After talking with Roger, I became firmer about my goals. I used to have many doubts and uncertainties about them, but now I can position my vision and blueprint much more clearly.
A session with Roger is like having a guide on the journey of life. On that journey we may feel somewhat lost, as if we got lost while climbing a high mountain. Roger’s session encouraged us step by step and led us to see the direction toward our goals and the stairs to get there. Roger does not actually say which direction or answer is correct; instead he encourages from the side, saying you could think this way, or think that way, so that you piece the trail together yourself. This time I was also fortunate to take part in the mindfulness meditation after the session, in which Roger guided us to immerse body, mind, and spirit in our inner world, to converse with the universe and with ourselves, and to confirm our inner voice. It was a very special feeling and experience. Thank you so much, Roger, for your guidance. I hope I can always remember this power and keep climbing the mountain of life, one step at a time.
22/07/09 TKB 2022 Tony “Confusion About My Career” Coaching Session Feedback:
First of all, I truly encourage everyone to come to the coach for a session. Many people feel timid about asking questions of a senior figure of such standing as a coach, but if we think about it from our own side, we are also very willing to help juniors resolve their doubts. So the hardest part is simply summoning the courage to book the time with Roger. Once that one hour begins, Roger uses his own different methods to clarify things for you step by step. Whether your confusion is in life or at work, and for people at every stage, I believe this method can be very helpful to your thinking, and it also involves quantifying, analyzing, and ranking.
We are used to thinking about things with our own limited knowledge and vision, and then making decisions. For me, coming for a coaching session was like reading a book within one hour. People often say we should think standing on the shoulders of giants, and today proved that saying true: in a very short time, through the coach’s perspective, we are led step by step to clarify the questions we are thinking about. Where is the key point? How important is it to you? Rather than bothering yourself every day with the same worries, as if you could never find an answer, when in fact you may just not have untangled the threads, not ranked the values that matter most to you, and then made a choice.
I believe that whether you are relatively junior like me, or a mid-level or senior manager, you will certainly gain something you need from the session. The process may be like planting a seed: five years, ten years, or even longer from now, at some moment you will look back and realize how that one hour helped something in your life. Finally, I want to thank the coach. Although we had scheduled one hour, he still kindly continued with the mindfulness practice for us, and the session ended after nearly two hours.
For me, this session was priceless, and I strongly encourage everyone to book a time. I had been confused about career thinking for more than two years. After today’s talk, my thoughts about myself are much clearer. I understand how important life values, work, and further study are to me, and I will have more courage to trust my own choices.
22/06/14 ACP32 Eli “How Will My Future Career Develop” Coaching Session Feedback
I am very happy today to have had a coaching session with Roger that may change my life. We began with a 5 to 10 minute self-introduction so that Roger could get to know our background and what we were most interested in discussing today. After the introduction, Roger asked me guided questions about the career development I was interested in, helping me focus, diverge, and focus again, and in the end I reached the conclusions myself.
These conclusions actually gave me a new capability. I can find the underlying logic of career development from the very bottom, and then apply it in every situation to come, whether it is an interview or my own further development of qualifications. Then there was a final segment called mindfulness meditation, which actually touches a very deep part of one’s inner self. When we close our eyes and use our imagination, it is as if we are recalling our future selves, or recalling the present through our future selves, and I even found myself thinking back to my past. These are all very inward experiences, and when I spend time alone with myself I might never have thought to do it this way.
So I believe mindfulness meditation can help us organize ourselves: integrating who I want to become in the future, even talking with my present self, and connecting past, present, and future into one main thread. This kind of organizing is very useful; at the very least it keeps us very focused, keeps our thinking from becoming too muddled, and clarifies our inner thoughts.
To fellow classmates who have gone through each stage and reached the final mindfulness meditation, you can take this ability back with you and use this method to talk with yourself. Finally, I want to thank Roger. I truly think he used the right method so that we can improve ourselves, both our inner abilities and even our outer value. Thank you for your effort today.
Throughout the session today, Roger’s emotions were very steady, and he brought none of his own values into it, which I think is very good. His one-on-one sessions let me discover an unexpected ability to guide myself. Coaching really depends on skill in guiding, because the person being coached does not always understand themselves well enough or is not always honest with themselves, and if the guiding is not strong enough, it is easy for the person to finish the coaching without any inner awareness or improvement.
22/06/11 Online 166 Lisa “What Is the Next Certification I Need for My Career?” Coaching Session Feedback
I am very happy to have had this opportunity today to have a coaching session with Roger. I am a project manager in the healthcare industry. I recently passed the PMP certification, and last year I also obtained the CSM. Because my company offers an annual learning subsidy, and because I also want to plan for further growth in my career, what I mainly wanted to learn in the coaching session was whether any other certifications would suit my career planning for the coming year (e.g., ACP, CSPO, RMP, etc.). Through the discussion in the coaching session, and by peeling back layer by layer to understand my real needs and the competencies I will need more in my future plans, I found that besides the three certifications I had originally in mind, there are other courses better suited to my future plans (e.g., leadership, conflict, communication skills, etc.), and that I do not necessarily need to fixate on getting certifications. The coaching session broke the framework I had assumed beforehand, explored many other possibilities, and helped me find a more suitable entry point, which was a pleasant surprise. Finally, at the end of the session, Roger guided us through a calming meditation, for example picturing myself four months, one year, and even three years after setting my goal and starting toward it. Suddenly a phrase came to mind: “great wisdom looks like foolishness.” So this is the person I hope to be~~ I hope to lay out the big direction with wisdom, while letting the small things in life go with an open heart and without clinging. I gained some reflections and inspiration about both work and life in the coaching session. It was a wonderful experience! Sharing it with everyone~~~
22/06/05 Kaina Corporate Class Chris “Career Planning” Coaching Session Feedback
Through the coaching session, I now have a better plan for my future career. During the session I understood more clearly what my values are, and what I care about and what I don’t. Once you find your own values, you can face future career planning more calmly. So thank you, coach, for helping me see my future plan more clearly, and for the practical planning technique: for a given problem, list a few indicators you care about, score the options against these indicators, and it becomes easy to know which decision to make. I believe this technique can also be used in many other areas.
As for Roger in the classroom, I actually did not know him very well, because I was preparing to sit the PMP exam the next day and so was not very focused in class. It was only through the coaching session that I learned Roger is actually very approachable.
This coaching session was not much different from what I had imagined: the coach will not give you his answer, but will help you understand your own thoughts better. Sometimes we know there is a thought in our heads, but if we do not make it concrete, it will always remain just a thought. Through the coaching session, my thoughts became more concrete. Without the coaching session, it would probably have stayed just a thought, and in the end I would have been left only with regret.
22/05/29 ACP31 Michael “How I Develop Core Workplace Capabilities” Coaching Session Feedback
Before my coaching session with Roger, this problem had troubled me for a long time, and I did not believe I could really find a way to achieve it. When discussing the topic with Roger, we used a timeline and layered categories of items, along with what kind of effort to make and what methods to use to reach the goal. After that, I felt more grounded and could focus the topic better, which also saved the time I used to spend without direction.
Before the session, I had assumed the coach would simply tell the student the answer, but I later learned that a coaching session works through questions, letting you find a way to solve your own difficulty. The coach never gave me an answer from beginning to end; he guided me so that I found it myself. In fact, everyone can explore within themselves and find ways to solve their issues and the conditions for reaching their goals. In this coaching session, I learned to look at an issue from different perspectives. Thinking from a different perspective leads to different discoveries.
Although the mindfulness meditation in the second half lasted only fifteen minutes, it accounted for about 40% of the effect. After calming myself down, I imagined how it would feel to have achieved the goal, which strengthened my desire to achieve it. I truly feel that coaching sessions are very helpful.
22/05/04 CSM41 Ann Coaching Session Feedback
Thank you to my coach, and thank you to myself too. I was fortunate to book this precious time slot. After the CSM course, I looked back on the processes my supervisor had led in the past, and I am now validating what I learned in my current work; they all turn out to be closely related. Through this session, I also looked back and explained the strengths and weaknesses of these validated connections, and reached some conclusions, which in turn affirms the course. It has brought real smoothness and speed to how my projects run at work, and I give the course my strongest endorsement.
In today’s session, through the numerical feedback my coach gave me and a review of my own conversation, I found that there are things I can do to achieve full-score results, and also things I should let go of or ignore. I now have a clearer direction, and a deeper understanding of what this numerical feedback stirs within me. The numbers also showed me the direction I can create toward in the future. From my coach I received three valuable ideas, three key points: perseverance, execution, courage.
I will keep these three key points in mind. Thank you, coach, for the time of this session and for letting me seek advice and interact with you. These three very important points give me a direction and a steady pillar to rely on. Thank you.
22/04/28 Taipei 166 Jinny “How to Appreciate, Positively Motivate, and Affirm My Team Members” Coaching Session Feedback
I was very nervous before the session. I worried, “Will my question be too trivial for Roger?” and “Can I only discuss project management and work-related issues with Roger?” So I felt uneasy and uncomfortable at first. But contrary to my worries, Roger took my question very seriously and guided me step by step, breaking down and analyzing my difficulties.
This coaching session truly helped me clarify what was troubling me and the root causes of my anxiety. It also helped me create new connections, find the motivation to change these sources of anxiety and stress, and look at the problem from a completely new perspective. After the session, everything became clear to me, and I felt stronger. I can now deal with the matter itself instead of being controlled by my emotions in the moment and failing to reach the goals I want to achieve.
During Roger’s guidance, he reminded me of something. When I failed an exam as a student, it felt as if the world were coming to an end. Years later, I know that “failing an exam is no big deal; the sun still rises in the east and sets in the west, the world keeps turning, and I am still living well.” The seemingly difficult predicament in front of me now will, for the me of a few years from now, no longer be a problem either. So I can let go of excessive and unnecessary anxiety, feel more at ease and full of energy, and be ready to meet challenges!
Thank you so much, Roger, for being willing to spend time on a coaching session with me. I believe that whatever question you bring to him, it will be handled with care and resolved. I hope everyone seizes the opportunity and signs up enthusiastically.
22/04/30 Taipei 167 Yu-An “Discussing Career Development for the Next 3 to 5 Years” Coaching Session Feedback
Hello everyone, I am Yu-An from Taipei Class 167. The topic of my coaching session with Roger today was some of my confusion at work, and I hoped he could give me advice on my career development over the next 3 to 5 years.
In the first half of the session, Roger used self-exploration to let me find my own inner values and rank them by priority. Through this series of self-exploration exercises, I gradually saw that the confusion tangled up in my mind was actually a reflection of the bottleneck I am currently facing in my career, and does not conflict with my own values. The next step in my life still has to start from my own values.
The second half used meditation and self-dialogue to explore my values with a deeper self. In this process, I felt that I was making peace with my present self and forming a clearer picture of the future. Without the second half, I think my vision for the future would not be as clear.
I felt the first half gave me a 60 to 70 percent level of satisfaction with my issues, and the second half brought it up to 80 percent. Overall, it was a great experience. I also recommend that everyone book a coaching session with Roger.
22/03/25 Hsinchu 166 Elena “How Do I Improve My Negotiation Skills” Coaching Session Feedback
I feel I gained three benefits from this session:
The first is that I examined the crux of my problem more concretely and comprehensively, looking at where I am stuck from every angle.
The second is learning to make good use of my own bargaining chips, and knowing how to increase them.
The third is how to find out what my negotiating counterpart wants to hear and does not want to hear.
Coming to Roger for a coaching session today helped me cut my losses so I am no longer going around in circles. At the very least, it let me correct my own thinking in time, so I can get the result I want more effectively. The session was about sixty to seventy percent in line with what I had in mind when I first came to him, namely how to fight for what I want. But at the same time I also know that wanting something does not mean I will necessarily get it, and that there should be some trade-offs. The feeling the session left me with is very good. It is practical and actionable.
During the session, Roger actually never gave any answers, so every answer came out of my own mouth. I think the coach played a very good guiding role, guiding us in how to think for ourselves instead of simply handing over an answer. The client has the wisdom, and Roger sparked a new perspective in me.
22/03/19 ACP31 Neo “What Will Be Different About Me After Passing the ACP” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Neo, a software engineer at Weikang Technology. I am very happy that my colleagues and I signed up for the ACP certification course together, and I hope we can all pass the ACP together.
After the coaching session with Roger, I understand more clearly what I can do once I have finished the ACP certification and what I need to do, and I also found some answers about the direction of my life. The direction at work and the direction of my future plans both have very positive energy and answers now. Meeting with Roger gives you some life energy, some very positive values, and even things you may not have thought of. It is a great opportunity to have a conversation with yourself, so I highly recommend that everyone have a session with Roger.
Before the session, I always felt a coaching session would be like confessing to a priest. But afterward I found that what I could gain was far more answers. It was not just like a confession, where you put down a stone from your heart; I could actually obtain the answers I needed from it.
In this coaching session, what I gained was more confidence in presenting myself, and in my next life goals and what I should do.
If I were to quantify the positive energy, I would say it is like gasoline. Before the coaching session I was perhaps like a car with its warning light on, about to run out of fuel and needing a refill. After the session, I feel like a car whose tank has been filled to 80 or 90 percent, ready to face the future with confidence and positive energy.
22/02/13 Taipei 166 Coach Zack “Career Capability Development” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Zack, a coach from Taipei Class 166. Winning this one-hour session with Coach Roger was truly worth it, and it helped me enormously. When I run into difficulties, I look for many methods or take many courses to make up for my shortcomings, but often I do not know what I actually want, so I end up taking many detours.
Since this session with Coach Roger, although he did not tell me the answer directly, he guided me to think seriously about what exactly I want. He helped me sketch a clear outline of my future and assess the capabilities needed to reach that goal. Then, comparing against the capabilities I have now, we looked at what is still missing, and planned an execution plan for the gaps. This approach helped me truly explore my own goals and what I want, which was my biggest gain today. Thanks to the coach’s help today, I will not wander around taking random courses or certifications. It saved me at least NT$120,000 and four months of course time. And even if I had spent that time and money, it might not have built the capabilities my future career needs. So I am very grateful for this session, which has been invaluable for my future development. Thank you, coach.
22/04/10 Taipei 166 Moni “How to Resolve My Current Workplace Obstacles” Coaching Session Feedback
I had been looking forward to this meeting for a long time, and when the day finally came it was very helpful to me!
First, let me share the first part, building the team. Coach Roger guided me through a warm-up introduction to ease my nervousness, and it also let the coach understand my background better so he could analyze from there!
In the session I asked how to resolve the obstacles and difficulties I am currently facing. The coach analyzed them gradually from the shallow to the deep, and through back-and-forth dialogue that challenged my thinking, he pinpointed the crux of my problem and made it concrete. The whole process was very comfortable and flexible, and I felt my original self coming back. The coach kept encouraging me, and kept turning things into numbers to bring out my inner voice: could I still accept this? If the number dropped, would I still have a choice? Thank you, coach, for clearing up my doubts. This was not a session with an answer; the real problem lies within my own heart, and the coach simply guided me, like a compass, giving me a clearer direction and escorting me along the way.
Thank you for this session. I sincerely recommend that any learner who hits difficulties, whether with goals, work, or life, join the coaching sessions; a great deal of energy will come back and be released. That is my sharing. Thank you, Roger and the PM.ABC team. I love the mechanism of shared success, and I am honored to have met the other partners. 🙂
2022/03/06 PM.ABC Mentor Coach / SM Bible Volunteer EASON “Career Goals” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Eason, a PM.ABC PMP mentor coach and a volunteer in Group 5 of the SM Bible. I enjoy learning, and over the past two years I have learned knowledge different from my work through PM.ABC and earned several certifications. But right now I feel somewhat lost about my career goals and do not know which direction to head in.
In today’s coaching session with Roger, he helped me find the career goal I truly hope for, and then step by step helped me unravel what conditions are needed to achieve it. Through the coach’s questions, I reflected on and understood which conditions I need to have in order to have a chance of reaching the career goal I hope for.
I was feeling down before the session, and some experiences I could not let go of were, remarkably, released after it. Roger’s guidance was like a bright lamp, pointing out that in the future I should focus more of my time on my goals, because wherever you put your time is where your achievements will be.
Thank you, Roger, for today’s coaching. I no longer carry the doubts in my heart that I could not let go of, and I now know the direction I need to work toward.
22/04/02 Taipei 167 Hdija “Between Life Vision and Career Choices” Coaching Session Feedback
Yesterday the scheduled time was actually only one hour: 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
At first I cared a lot about that scheduled time. I have paid out of pocket for a lot of psychological counseling, so I know that within limited time, stating a broad issue is something you must prepare for very carefully before the session.
But in the actual session, Roger was not bound by the time limit. Instead, he led me step by step to face my own problems.
And he very practically led the learner through logical thinking in stages and in order of priority.
In the end, what came out were concrete actions that could be put into practice and carried out.
This was an experience I never had in psychological counseling.
The most special part was the third stage of the session, where Roger uses spiritual practice steps to lead everyone to get to know, plan for, and experience what we might be like one year, five years, even ten or twenty years from now.
And he lets the energy that future self possesses be released into our present selves, bringing strength and influence.
I do feel I have a lot of confusion and unease in my current career.
Although seniors and supervisors at work and in my life have offered some advice and guidance,
I feel that Roger, as an objective third party, can give us guidance that is hard to get within our own circles: “Precisely because he has no stake in it, it is all the more precious.”
22/03/06 Development Project Manager Carry “Review and Outlook” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Carry from PBA25, and I currently work as a development project manager. Before today’s coaching session, I had hit some bottlenecks in my current job, and because of them I felt lost about the next step in my advancement.
Through the conversation with Roger, I reviewed the courage and drive I showed in facing many hurdles in my career, and I also took a comprehensive look at the situation inside and outside the company. From that I found new angles from which to see different possibilities.
I am very grateful for the chance to talk with Roger. Asking the right question really does solve half the problem. Roger’s way of guiding lets us shift our thinking and keep digging deeper to find other possibilities, so that I regained my confidence. I benefited a great deal.
22/03/10 ACP TKB Sylvia “Catalyst” Coaching Session Feedback
In the coaching process, Roger played the role of a very good listener. It sounds like an easy role, but it is an extremely important one. To convey my thoughts clearly, I had to organize my thinking quickly as I spoke, and the listener’s role is like a catalyst that speeds up the process of clarifying things, far more efficiently than thinking alone.
Roger is an active listener with clear logic. He restated what I had said, and when I heard my own thoughts from his mouth, I rethought and verified them to make the content more precise. This produced a process of critical thinking, and it was exactly this process that let me discover my own blind spots in just a one-hour session.
Of course, without this session I could have reached a similar result by thinking on my own, but it would not have been as efficient as a coaching session. Without organizing my content as I spoke, and without the critical thinking that came from correcting the coach’s restatements, my thoughts and sense of direction would not be as clear, and I might have moved forward by bumping into things and adjusting as I went. Of course, as long as the goal is there I would not stray too far, but it would certainly not be the fastest way to go.
I believe this coaching session saved me a lot of the time cost of taking detours, and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs it.
P.S. I suggest drawing a mind map or using other visualization methods to support your thinking during the session.
22/03/02 PBA23 Supervisor at a Japanese Electrical Appliance Company Yuanche “How to Use PBA to Improve Workplace Competitiveness” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Yuanche from PBA23, and I currently work at a Japanese-owned electrical appliance company in Taiwan. I had originally planned to take the PBA last year, but for various reasons I only had the chance to train together with everyone in PBA25. That is also how I came to have this one-hour coaching session with Roger.
In the coaching session, I found that classmates who want to earn the PBA certification all have ambitions and want to gain improvements in knowledge and ability. But in the session with the coach, I realized I could use the coaching format to once again clarify the purpose and motivation for taking the PBA or PMP certification, recalibrate my goals, and see whether there are blind spots or things I have never thought about, so as to clarify again the outline of the goals I want. This was very meaningful to me.
Take the PBA as an example: after planning and executing, how do we evaluate whether the output is suitable, and how do we confirm it? This is actually quite a core concept in the PMI system. Through the act of being interviewed by the coach, we confirmed once more that our ambitions are headed in the right direction.
22/01/29 Beckey “Career Capability Development” Coaching Session Feedback
Thank you, Roger, for all your advice on career development. We talked for a little over an hour, and it helped me grasp the direction I should develop in the future, and gave me a deeper understanding of certifications. Thank you so much. This coaching session helped me clarify the points where my thinking was unclear. It let me see some blind spots more clearly, and I think that is the value of a coaching session.
If I had not had this coaching session, I probably would have needed at least six months to see my direction clearly. And if I already have a direction, a coaching session can confirm whether my future path is right, discuss more details to make my direction more likely to succeed, and also increase my drive to move forward.
Life’s Next Step
22/08/07 ACP 32 Alex “Career Change and the Challenges of a New Profession” Coaching Session Feedback
When I first applied for a coaching session, I thought I would simply hear some advice from Roger. Instead, he used a much more customized approach to guide me toward a direction. Based on my expectations, Roger guided me to identify my strengths, then helped me combine the two into a clearer course of action, one tailored specifically to me, giving me a goal to move toward and work for.
This may differ from what most people expect to get out of a coaching session, but the way Roger works genuinely tailors the session to the person who comes, and fits you better when you put it to use.
I feel that during the session Roger gave me a completely new way of looking at things, and a clear direction as well. It showed me what I hope to become in the future and what level I should reach, so that I can strengthen my own abilities going forward.
Okay, Roger, may I ask you a few follow-up questions? Today you actually gave no answers at all. Now that the answer has been laid out and you can see the whole picture, how do you feel?
Honestly, my first thought was that although I have a goal and a direction, I inevitably have some doubts about my own ability to execute, especially since this was designed entirely around me and no one has validated it before. Naturally there is some uncertainty, and the unease is stronger than if someone had simply handed me an answer.
But on second thought, this approach really does provide a direction tailored to my own case, and whether it succeeds really depends on how much effort I put in. Seen that way, there is no reason not to give it a try.
Suppose I gave you a definitive answer, saying “I succeeded like this over ten or twenty years, so just do what I say and you will surely succeed.” How would that answer compare with the one you came up with yourself?
If someone gave me a definitive answer, I might feel very reassured in the moment, but when I think it over carefully, the environmental factors when others execute it and when I execute it are almost completely different. If it worked in their environment, is it still that likely to work in mine?
So even if Roger gave me a definitive answer, I would still be the one who has to deal with all kinds of changes and different situations afterward, and Roger cannot be at my side 24 hours a day to guide me. In that case, being given a direction and a goal to work toward is probably better. Otherwise, I would be handed a definitive answer, find that everything afterward is different, fail, and feel bitter about it.
So now I understand why you cannot give answers: everyone is different.
Okay, and regarding today’s answer and depth, what percentage of the questions you brought with you do you feel were addressed?
I think what I originally expected from this session was an answer, but what Roger gave me was a direction, and I believe the answer lies at the end of that direction. So at this stage, what Roger gave me is an instruction for what to do next, but he has placed a goal off in the distance for me.
Actually, I feel it is very similar to what was said at the very beginning about Agile. You see a distant mountain, you know the summit is over there, but the whole way is shrouded in fog. Roger put up a marker ahead and said, take the first step and the second step this way, and the goal is on the other side of the mountain. For the next step, I will go and try it, because it is the path I am meant to walk. So the share of the answer itself may be only 10%, or maybe 20%.
For the remaining 80%, what Roger gave me was the building of a mindset, and then a direction, telling me that going this way gives better odds. After all, Roger cannot fully grasp my current situation, so this approach is probably better.
How practical was today’s session for you, and what about the answer you received?
Of course it is a great help. As for how effective it will be, you can only find out by doing it. Because what Roger gave me is a way of doing things, not a conclusion.
Actually, we give no way of doing things either; from start to finish, you are the one giving yourself the answer.
That is right. He guided me to find my own way of putting it into practice.
Okay, so from the Agile perspective, there is no such thing as a 100-point plan. How will you use Agile to reach your goal from here?
For example, I think the best way is to set myself some short-term goals, which gives me a clearer direction to act on and also puts some time pressure on myself.
After achieving them, I would look back at what I did during that period and see whether it met my goal. If it did not, I would look back and ask whether I did something wrong.
Or whether the goal I set at the start was not clear or good enough, and then find a way to adjust. Whether I adjust the approach or adjust the goal, I would then set the next timebox’s goal and the method for carrying it out. In short, by continuing to give myself short-term goals, one day I will reach the vision I hope for.
Right, so your answer now is that you have never done this before and the uncertainty is high. So what?
It truly fits the kind of Complex environment where Agile is used.
So the approach I am using now is exactly the subject of Agile coaching. Every Scrum Master should have this kind of skill and mindset, for facing any problem and knowing how to approach it.
It may not always be solvable, but you should be able to guide everyone toward the approach with the highest likelihood of solving it.
I can tell you that any problem can be solved, because among the 200-plus people who have come to me, each has their own expertise. Some are as senior as CEOs. They have been general managers for many years, yet their problems can still be solved in this same way. I did not give them answers; the methods all came out of their own mouths.
So all you need to do is guide them to the places they cannot see. If you want to have this kind of coaching ability, think about how you can use it. Agile has taught this, but I do not know whether you have learned it: do not give answers. Whenever you ask me for an answer, I do not give one, right? What I would give would not be what you want anyway.
I would like to ask: within a team, does the Scrum Master also guide the Developers this way? Not giving you the answer, but giving you a direction and finding a way for you to discover the answer yourself?
What do you think is better? If the Scrum Master knows the answer, he could just tell the team directly, but what happens to the team’s growth?
It would probably be somewhat worse.
Right. And if you gave them the answer and it did not solve the problem, whom would the team blame?
Definitely the Scrum Master.
Right, so you might as well not give answers at all. What we are doing today is exactly what an Agile coach does, one hundred percent. You are unlikely to be so fortunate as to find an Agile coach who can clear every obstacle for you like this.
Yes, that does seem unlikely. I always assumed a Scrum Master’s approach was: when a member runs into a problem, he tells the member, “Go find someone who can solve it.”
That level is far too low. What Roger is demonstrating is a high-level Scrum Master.
I see. I only understood after experiencing it myself.
If your company had a Scrum Master like this, how do you think the company would see you?
They would feel that the members who worked with you each improved their abilities in real time and grew significantly.
And after the session, do you remember how much you said your motivation to reach your goal had gone up?
Nine points.
Right, isn’t that full of motivation? The Scrum Master’s goal is to make everyone full of motivation.
It really is.
Now suppose I told you, “Alex, your goal is great, you must work toward that goal.” How much would your motivation increase then?
It would feel about the same as when we first started the conversation.
But after you had said everything yourself, you found your motivation was even stronger. That is why a Scrum Master does not need to worry about your execution once it is over. I only need to make sure you have the motivation, and you will figure out the problems on your own.
Understood. Thank you, Roger.
22/08/06 Zhong 158 Mike “How Do I Land My Ideal Company and Position?” Coaching Session Feedback
A year after passing the PMP exam, as someone only two years out of school, my career planning was still quite vague. During this time I read many career planning books, yet I still had not figured out my future goals. Today, through a short 70-minute coaching session, the coach started from my distant life values to help me clarify what I want, then broke that down into mid-term and short-term goals. Within a systematic framework, I was able to define in a short time the milestones for putting my life values into practice.
At the start, I only wanted to understand how to set short-term goals. But today the coach first had me bring up my lifelong life values, and only then guided me toward the goals I wanted. Through guided question-and-answer dialogue, the coach gave me more of a framework and a more logical way to think about why I want to achieve my short-term goals. Without a coaching session, it might have taken several months or even years of feeling my way along to refine these plans. This is something nobody usually asks you about or discusses with you, so you never think about it.
Through the coaching session, in just 60 minutes, I saved 600 hours or even more, exploring problems in depth and bouncing ideas back and forth. I had been lost in a forest of career choices, and I found the direction of the exit, and came away with a great deal. I am truly grateful to my past self for signing up for the PMP exam, which became the first step in my career, and I thank Coach Roger for offering us in the PM.ABC alumni association such a wonderful benefit after the course ended: a one-on-one deep conversation with the coach, leading us forward toward self-actualization.
So I strongly recommend that those of you who are still drifting in the workplace, or have not yet set your goals, sign up for a coaching session right away. You will definitely come away with a full harvest!
22/08/05 Bei 169 Mark “Which City I Long to Work and Live in Over the Next 5 to 10 Years” Coaching Session Feedback
Today’s session with Roger helped me get to know my true self. I actually long to work and live abroad, and I have worked and lived in a few countries. The company I am with is also willing to give me the chance to transfer to the European headquarters once my health recovers in Taiwan. Because of these two reasons, I consulted Roger about which city I long to work in over the next 5 to 10 years, and we also listed a number of cities. Based on my life values, we broke them down into factors, and in the end, very pragmatically, I arrived at an answer that I already knew in my heart but was unwilling to accept. I feel that life is like this: we often get trapped in our own fixed ways of thinking, or insist on pursuing a goal that seems out of reach, and we need someone else to wake us up. Although I am at the age of “established at thirty” and approaching forty, I always felt regret that I had not gone out to try, had not gone out to see. Sometimes you think the environment is limiting you, when in fact you are limiting yourself. But looking at it from another angle, can we make some changes within these limits? Finally, I hope that whatever decision I make later, I will keep an open mind from the start and unlock my own shackles, because changing the world begins with oneself.

Over the past two years I moved into a new position, faced many new challenges, and set new goals,
but I have always felt some uncertainty about my future goals. Although I planned my goals and was moving toward them,
I always felt an unrelievable pressure, as if I were being chased by my goals.
Thank you to Roger for the one-on-one coaching session, which helped me systematically analyze the essence of the problem.
In the coaching session, I was guided to break down and prioritize my own thoughts, which led me to rethink how I view and set my goals,
and to re-examine what I am truly seeking.
It felt like an enlightening process, a smarter way to re-examine and understand my own situation and goals.
Thank you, Roger, for your guidance.
Since preparing for the PMP exam, I have felt the PM.ABC team’s sense of mission and execution along the way.
I hope to grow together with the PM.ABC partners. Thank you, Roger.
22/07/27 TKB166 Gabbie Coaching Session Feedback
At first I only half understood coaching sessions. I was still confused about my own life goals, did not really know the format or process of a coaching session, and was also a little timid, wondering how I could possibly have the chance to talk one-on-one with such a senior figure, so I kept putting off booking a session. This time I made up my mind to book one with the coach, with a mindset of just giving it a try and getting to know it. In this coaching session, I feel I gained an enormous amount. It began with the coach teaching me to identify the things I consider important in life and then rank them quantitatively. Through quantitative analysis of myself by myself, I came to understand myself better, and from that I found paths I might want to take. What impressed me even more was that at the end, Roger led me through meditation, letting me use my own imagination to understand my inner self and settle my mind, and from there look for my future path.
For this, I feel the greatest help was that Roger did not use the general public’s social perceptions or values to tell me what is good or bad to do. Instead, through listening and guiding, he let me discover myself and guide myself, which I feel is very important. In Taiwan’s education, parents or teachers often use their own ideas and viewpoints to tell you what road you should take and what you should do in order to reach what they consider your goal. But in fact, that goal was preset for you by them, preset for you by social values, and is not necessarily your own true awareness or what you truly want to do.
I do not know whether anyone else is as lost as I was about the direction of life, vague about what I want, knowing only what I do not want. If so, I truly recommend talking with Roger. You may not get from him the answer you were hoping he would say, because he will tell you right from the start that he is not going to give you an answer. But through the session, you will slowly begin to truly know and understand yourself, and then find your own answer.
Finally, I would like to share the two parts of this session that left the deepest impression on me. The first part was quantifying what I consider most important in life. Before doing this quantification, I knew that self-growth, a sense of achievement, communication, friends, travel, work, and so on were important to me, but I did not know how important each was or what their ranking was. Under Roger’s guidance, after deeply thinking and adjusting by myself, I understood myself better and found the ranking and value of these things in my life. It also made their outlines and boundaries much clearer, so I know better what I want, and this “want” is not built on social perceptions and values but truly starts from “myself.”
The second part that left a deep impression was the meditation at the end. In the past six months, more and more people around me have started meditating, and out of curiosity I also meditated on my own for a while. But this time, under Roger’s guidance, the imagery was very intense and rich, and full of color. Through the meditation, I also felt an invisible support and a sense of acceptance, which brought me more calm inside and left me less anxious. You will also find that many times you already have the answer yourself, but you want or need someone else to give you an answer to confirm your own thinking, when what you really need to do is trust yourself and be aware of yourself.

22/07/18 Taipei 169 Momo “Career Planning” Coaching Session Feedback
Hello everyone, I’m Momo, a design-build project manager at a construction contractor. Today I had a coaching session with Roger, and it focused on choices around my career planning.
Thank you, Coach Roger, for today’s coaching session. By talking with me across my daily life, my growth, my expectations and my dreams, you helped me see more clearly the path I have been holding on to and what my heart truly longs for, and you helped me examine, from deep within, what I really desire and want.
After today’s session, my earlier worries and hesitation are gone. The coaching session made me more confident in my beliefs and braver about stepping out toward my next mission. Thank you, Roger, for today’s coaching session; it let me get to know myself anew.
At the end of the session, Roger guided me through a positive visualization. The process led me forward step by step and let me sink into the scene and feel the moment. In it, I saw the person deep inside me, and that was my ideal self. Life’s road is like climbing a mountain: it is hard going, but when you stand at the summit, you feel that you got there on your own, one footstep at a time, and in that moment you feel truly proud of yourself. For me, the biggest takeaway from the coaching session was that the whole journey kept telling me “never give up” and helped me know myself better. I hope that the road of my future life can be like today’s positive visualization, and that I can become the best version of myself.
2022/07/03 Taipei 168 Ally “How to Find My Future Life and Work Goals” Coaching Session Feedback
When I first heard Roger mention in class that coaching sessions were available, I thought that my current job didn’t need what was taught in class, so I probably had no chance to apply for one. But after reading the feedback from many classmates, I saw a glimmer of hope. My enthusiasm for work had almost completely vanished and I had been drifting through life in a daze for quite a while, so I am glad I summoned the courage to sign up and book a coaching session with Roger.
During the session, Roger was very patient, guiding and listening tirelessly, and encouraging me, someone who isn’t good with words, to slowly voice the problems that had troubled me for years. Out of my disorganized, illogical account, he carefully untangled the threads and guided me to see the crux of the problem that had bothered me for so long. It loosened the knot that had bound my heart for years. I no longer dwell obsessively on dead ends, and I, who had gradually lost my confidence and sense of direction, found my goals at work and my drive in life again.
The future will not be all smooth sailing from here, and I may well meet even bigger difficulties, but now I no longer feel the helpless wandering I felt before the session. Instead I feel a brave heart that is eager to take on challenges.
Thank you again, Roger, for the coaching session. It gave me a chance at a new life. Thank you, Roger~~
22/06/28 CSPO22 Calla “Concrete Ways to Guide Thinking About Career Direction” Coaching Session Feedback
Before the session formally begins, everyone prepares their questions first, and this is important! It speeds things up and lets Roger understand concretely what my questions are. Throughout the session, most of the time I was analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of these issues myself, and I am very grateful to Roger for helping me sort out some aspects I had never thought about. Interestingly, I also found myself unconsciously using some Agile practices to present my ideas: ordering priorities, and speaking in a concise and organized way. By listing points item by item and analyzing them in depth across one another, I had the chance to clarify and face the questions in my own heart. As a result, after the session, when I looked again at my original question, I could already give a better response to it, and I seem to have more courage to face it and put my plan into action.
22/06/26 CSPO22 Jane “Life Direction Development” Coaching Session Feedback
Looking back on the whole session, Roger kept using guidance, not laying down rules or telling me what I should do, but drawing out what I truly think inside. He kept guiding me to say my real thoughts, whether they were fear, perhaps anger, or a direction I hoped for.
In fact, as I reflected again and again, I already knew many of the answers, and many questions could be clarified along the way. For example, I might be overthinking, or always thinking about obstacles, when the real root cause has to be addressed starting from myself. Like peeling an onion, you peel it layer by layer, and only then can you find the core problem or the core motivation, and then act on it. So I think the session was wonderful and very rewarding. The question I brought to the coach today was something I had thought about myself for at least three years.
Today’s coaching session reached about a 7 out of 10 in depth. Roger said that every SM has this kind of coaching ability, and he was mainly demonstrating it to me: a coach does not need the client’s knowledge, does not need the client’s background, and does not even need to know the client, yet can resolve the client’s deep-seated problems. From beginning to end, the coach must not say anything about what he knows; even with 10 or 20 years of experience, he cannot offer hints.
22/04/14 Fang-chi “My Future Career and Life Planning” Coaching Session Feedback
Before starting this coaching session, I actually knew that I had mixed quite a lot of problems together.
I felt that these problems had held me back for quite a long time, and I had never properly untangled them,
laid them out one by one to think about how to solve them or how to clear them so that I could move forward.
I felt stuck in the whirlpool of these problems and had been unable to take the next step.
Roger, on the one hand, used a guiding approach to let me slowly voice my problems
and clarify my thoughts, and on the other hand used a more practical approach to help me rank the various problems,
so that I could see what I actually value more and which things or capabilities I should work on growing.
It also made me more firm about my original direction. In addition, we dug out other, deeper-level problems,
and at this point I made a commitment to myself that I can’t cope by avoiding, and that I must face these problems head-on in a more positive way.
Then, in the final meditation part, I was able to look at my current environment
and my hoped-for future from another, higher level. I used to feel that reaching my future goals was very far away,
but through this approach I got the feeling that it is actually not that far, and that if I just start taking action, there is a chance.
And the worries I have now will, seen from the future, no longer be problems at all.
Thank you so much, Roger, for guiding me step by step with such patience. It truly helped me see my present situation and my future much more clearly!!
22/06/27 Luffy “Life Direction Development” Coaching Session Feedback
Thank you, Coach Roger. During our conversation, the coach led me to discover many blind spots I had not known about, and helped me analyze my workplace capabilities and personal traits. I am also very grateful that the spiritual guidance that followed let me picture the landscape of my life a few years from now. Strangely, it was a completely different kind of style from what I imagine for myself at this stage. This has become a direction I can think about and work to arrange in the future.
In the past I have been to psychological counseling. That approach leaned toward venting my emotions and easing my mood, but it could not clearly show me what the future would look like. Through the dialogue with the coach, however, everything I saw was drawn from within me, and through the expression of my subconscious I came to know that I can be different. It turns out I also have so many traits and abilities that I had never uncovered before. This conversation allowed all those threads in my mind that I could never untangle to be separated out one by one, so that I can keep striving along the path I want next.
After the spiritual guidance, I truly felt warmer all over. I was no longer like a raging fire; the stone that had been on my chest suddenly seemed not so heavy, my body was filled with a warm light, I became gentler, and I felt I could face the things I fear with more ease. Psychological counseling and a coaching session go in different directions: one works at the level of the mind, including repairing certain mental problems and traits, while what the coach does is help participants clarify themselves and find their life direction. I think the two do not conflict and that this is special, and I really encourage everyone to give it a try, with no need to fear digging into yourself. Only by first honestly facing your weaker self will you have the courage to step toward the unknown of each day. I also hope that every participant can pass the PMP exam and find a sky of their own. Thank you again, Coach, for your help; it gave me the courage to keep looking for a blue sky of my own.
22/06/24 James “Life Direction Development” Coaching Session Feedback
I’m James. I was very happy to have the chance for a coaching session today. In the first 5 minutes, I introduced myself and some of my work experience so that Roger could get to know me and have some basic understanding.
Next I explained what I wanted to discuss in this session. These topics were initially the direction in which I felt lost in life, and through the process of guidance, we sorted them into layers. Roger did not give me real answers, but used a guiding approach to explore my deep-seated needs and direction, which was of very real help to me.
In the positive meditation part, I took some time to do the visualization. Although these visualizations are intangible, they made some of my ideas concrete, made my direction clearer and firmer, and let me see clearly the road I must walk in the future. They also helped me uncover my vision and mission, return to my true heart, and not forget my original intention.
During the session, some directions had gradually become clear, and with the positive meditation, I could settle my mood, make my resolve firmer and clearer, and understand more clearly that what I envision can come true.
Before the coaching session I had also read the sharing from several participants, and of course I knew very well that a coaching session has no answers by design, but it makes your direction clearer and firmer. In fact, life does not necessarily have a standard answer; what you think is something you already had the answer to, you were just not so sure of it.
In this session, the confusion in my heart could be cleared away. Where there is a wish there is a thought, where there is a thought there is hope, and the greater your thought, the greater the things you can accomplish. Through this session, I also hope to share positive energy and positive thinking with more people and help more people at the same time.
At the end, we also did a brief conclusion, namely the Insight discovered in this session. Through the whole positive guidance, I could be clearer that my direction is right. Thank you to Roger and to the coaching session. I am very grateful for this opportunity. Thank you.
22/06/11 Roy “What Should My Next Step Be to Realize My Dream?” Coaching Session Feedback
I think the biggest help this coaching session gave me is a clearer direction for the future and more confidence in moving toward my goals. In the past, as I moved toward my goals I was often questioned by family or friends about what I was doing, and especially when others doubted me, I would often, when alone, doubt what they said and then doubt whether I had the ability to realize my vision at all. After this session, through some encouragement and some analysis from the coach, I understood better which abilities I actually lack, and I made concrete the picture of the goal once achieved and made tangible the distance between myself and my target vision. Most importantly, the coach’s methods made me believe that I can achieve it. I think that after this session I will identify more with myself and with my dream. Especially in the final part, where the coach kept asking me about the scene as the plan comes true step by step, these simulations made my future clearer, and by affirming those results and rewards, I have more drive to get the thing done and will not mind the noise from outside.
I think this is the most helpful thing from today. How was this session different from the coaching session you imagined? When I first came in, I thought the coach would directly analyze things in an expert way and tell me what to do next. Did I do any analysis for you? I did not make any decision for you. Through self-analysis, the coaching helped me understand what I want and what I need, and then, through my own thinking, understand what I am actually lacking. I think this is more helpful. Compared with my initial expectation, I can affirm myself more, identify with my plans for the future, and know what to focus on during execution and how to fine-tune. Tell me about the part in the middle, the CEO-vision interview, and your feelings or any new thoughts. My feeling and thought is that explaining your vision to someone who believes you will succeed, and having them raise related questions, is a very meaningful thing. You can feel how great an influence belief has, and you become more motivated to resolve the questions the other person raises. Finally, regarding the relaxation part, if that part had not been done, how much of today’s coaching session effect would remain? Without that part, if the coaching session is a 10, I think it might drop to 7.5, because that part was the last source of drive for moving myself forward.
22/06/08 CSM41 Liling “Planning Study While Working” Coaching Session Feedback
I am honored to have had a one-on-one session with Roger at this point in time. Through this coaching session, the question I had originally set for the session took a big turn after Roger’s analysis. At the time I only saw the cost of investing in further study while working and wanted to graduate quickly, but I had not considered whether, at some future point, my final goal would be easier to reach because of the study I do now. One insight Roger gave me is that if the goal is the same but I have different options to choose from, then when these conditions are added up, the direction for the future will be different.
Under Roger’s guidance, I realized that when we meet a problem, we usually think about how to solve it based on the situation at the moment it occurs. But if we stretch the problem’s timeline, what we should be thinking about is how the problem will affect our life goals, what the benefits are for achieving future goals, what the costs are, and what aspects might have been overlooked. After thinking all of this through and quantifying it, we can rank all the factors, so that the final decision is one we will not regret when we look back on it later.
In the session, what makes a “coach” very different from ordinary conversation is that it is a guiding mode that does not directly give answers, so for any topic discussed, the final answer is still the true inner thought that we present after thinking deeply ourselves. Although the session with Roger took only an hour, looking at the long term, it may have a profound impact over the next 10 or 20 years, or even after retirement, so this hour was well worth it. Thank you so much, Roger, for your selfless sharing.
22/06/09 Taipei 167 Mina “What Am I Pursuing in My Life?” Coaching Session Feedback
Before the session with the coach, I had always been very restless about my self-acceptance and my planning for my future career and life. I always felt dissatisfied with the status quo, as if I were in a hurry to prove something. I often chat with other people, but I hadn’t shown myself completely honestly or had a good conversation with myself for a long time…
In today’s chat with the coach, the way Roger led it was just as the classmates who had been through sessions before described: he makes you see what you actually “need” deep inside. Does what you actually want really match the goals you show on the outside?
In my case, by the end of the session I found that what I “want” and what I “need” are actually different. What I pursue may have been influenced by surface appearances of reality or my environment, and I always felt that the higher I climb, the more it proves my worth. But what I am actually seeking inside is only recognition of myself and a peaceful life.
So after the session, the coach helped me realize that I am actually not as bad as I imagined, that I should cherish the position I am in and the life I have now, and that, starting from here, I can see that all the uncertainty I feel about my future comes from my own dissatisfaction.
So after the session, I also have a better idea of how I should focus at work and how to move toward the goals I want. I am also very grateful that Roger was willing to spend more than an hour of his time today leading me to find the direction of my future goals. Thank you.
22/06/04 SM Bible Volunteer Nick “How Should I Take My Life’s Next Step?” Coaching Session Feedback
Before this session, I was full of anxiety and uncertainty. After reading the sharing from several classmates, I felt I should ask about every question, and yet I also felt I didn’t know what to do about many of them, so I chose to discuss my current situation with Roger, because I will probably face such an event before long. At the beginning I was actually very nervous. Half an hour before the meeting I had already logged on to calm myself down, thinking how nervous I was. As for the self-introduction, I thought about it today and started preparing it this morning, working out what I would tell Roger, and I even discussed it with myself first.
In this coaching session, Roger first got to know me and then used an interactive approach. I felt that this process gave me a very good release, not only organizing my mood or the direction and drive of my work goals, but also, together with sorting out my own abilities, even thinking about who I would become two years from now. I was greatly inspired in this session.
Through the positive meditation, I feel that it added a great deal to everything that came before. If the earlier part was 90 points, the last 10 points turned out to be far more than 10 points away. Those ten points look like few, but each point feels hard, and going from 90 to 91 is also hard. Without this part, I think the impression might not have been engraved as deeply or as durably, and I felt quite comfortable during the final meditation.
Through this session, the thought that left the deepest impression is that my future self will thank my present self for persisting in moving forward. It will strengthen my belief, and it has helped me organize many of my own ideas and thoughts, and by moving forward like this I will get more and more things right. That’s it. Keep going.
22/05/29 TKB80 Paul “A Coaching Session I Wish I Had Found Sooner, Which Broke Through Years of Career Planning Gridlock” Coaching Session Feedback
Hello everyone, I’m Paul, a PM.ABC PMP. A few weeks ago, I saw Roger’s announcement that he was offering coaching sessions. I really wanted to try one, but I mistakenly believed I had no PMP volunteer experience and gave up. In the end I finally worked up the courage to ask Roger whether I could put my volunteer service hours on credit and make them up later. I never expected that Roger would actually remember that I had helped fill out the questionnaire for his doctoral dissertation. Roger simply asked me to book a time with him. It was wonderful! YES, fantastic!
Background of the topic we discussed:
After earning a master’s degree in materials engineering, I didn’t want to work shifts in a semiconductor fab, and I had also been thinking about starting my own business. So I went through several different types of jobs. Each stint produced a few small achievements, but they inevitably raised doubts about my stability. Later, because of marriage and plans to have children, I spent five years in a traditional industry. Then, seeing the AI era arrive, I moved into an emerging industry to give it a shot. Unfortunately, I went through several startups, and since only 5% of startups succeed, I felt like duckweed drifting without roots, very unstable. I have now moved to a university, where I serve as a project manager on a government-funded project. I hoped the coaching session would help me find my next job, in an industry I could build a long-term career in.
I asked Coach Roger to help me with my pain points at work: how to systematically expand my core career capabilities, what my next step in life should be, and how to get hired by my ideal company in my ideal role.
Coach Roger told me that, as a coach, he would not give me any answers. He is only responsible for discussing and uncovering the issues, and for observing and guiding me to explain myself in greater depth across different possibilities and to imagine the related solutions!
1. What I gained from the conversation:
The first part of the conversation, 100 minutes, was a rational discussion. Coach Roger first asked about my personal strengths and had me rate them (1 to 10). Then he asked about my life values and my job choices, and again had me rate them (1 to 10). In the end, we completed a tailor-made, feasible career plan: first, research the kind of talent that my target company, Company A, wants; take stock of my strengths and fill in what I lack; then, after packaging myself appropriately and humbling myself, use the close-knit PM.ABC PMP alumni network and my university’s alumni network to get myself recommended directly to Company A’s mid- and senior-level executives.
The second part, 15 minutes, was empowerment. Coach Roger used NLP methods to guide me through a visualization. From a future perspective and a higher dimension, I looked at my career plan. During the visualization, I discovered that if I walk this new career path, then 5 to 10 years from now I should be deeply fulfilled in both work and family, even beyond my expectations.
2. My reflections on the conversation
I was already amazed by the results of the first, rational part of the conversation! As for what I discovered in the second, emotional and empowering part, the only way I can describe it is “magical”!
3. Closing thoughts
Roger is truly a master of coaching conversations. I am deeply grateful for the two hours he spent with me yesterday, including the final 15-minute NLP ritual to build positive beliefs. If you ever have the chance, be sure to talk with Coach Roger as soon as you can.
Friends, take the first step early and let a good coach lead you in. It will save you from taking a great many detours!
22/05/20 Foreign-Company Senior Executive Bruce’s Coaching Session Feedback
For a senior corporate leader, there are fewer and fewer opportunities to have someone who can truly guide or lead you. Ordinarily we are the ones trying to guide or influence others, yet we lack a mentor of our own, someone who can point the way. The higher your position, the fewer people you find to learn from, and the fewer people there are who can lead you. So I feel that a good coach can accompany you and help you talk with yourself. It looks like he is talking with you, but in fact you are talking with yourself. You may not get an answer on the spot, but at the very least it lets you examine whether your thinking contains contradictions. Questions come up: Have I not yet been able to open up the issues inside me? Or are there issues I have always known about, but no one has been there to keep poking at them so that I have to face them?
This way of coaching is very good, especially because the most painful thing for senior managers is that there is almost no one to talk to. Because of a certain kind of pride, it is hard to show weakness to anyone, whether to your subordinates, your peers, or even your boss, who may not even be in Taiwan, or you may have no boss at all because you are the boss.
Q: How was the coaching session different from what you imagined?
I felt the guidance was actually better than I had imagined. There was truly no jumping into any conclusion. That is not easy, because we are far too fond of giving people advice. In daily life we give advice without even realizing it, so it is hard to truly enjoy the experience of being purely guided. I think that is a very difficult thing to do, and the guidance was more thorough and better than I had imagined.
The calm of the conversation, the tempo and tone of the whole session, was even, without many highs and lows, which helped us lay out more of what was on our minds in a plain, straightforward way.
Q: The coach never gave an answer from start to finish, so how did he help you find the answers?
The coach wants you to converge, the coach needs you to prioritize, and the coach checks whether your logic is consistent from beginning to end. Sometimes it is not a logical contradiction. It may be that you haven’t thought an answer through at that moment, and that creates an apparent contradiction. The more you try to explain why there is a contradiction, the more problems you find.
Q: Did you see your own blind spots in today’s coaching session?
I saw quite a few of my own blind spots. For some issues, someone has to poke at them to force you to face the blind spot. Without constant poking, it is hard to keep exploring forward. Given enough time, you often end up burying your head in the sand and refusing to face it.
Q: If you hadn’t gone to a coach to find your blind spots, how long would it have taken you to see them on your own?
It’s not easy to see them. Sometimes it is hard to prioritize our own inner thoughts. It’s not something you would sit down with paper and pen to rank for no reason, and you don’t talk with yourself that way. Most of our conversations with ourselves stay at analyzing the surface of what’s happening.
Roger: Good, those are wonderful insights. I hope we can encourage more senior executives like you to try coaching sessions. It will also help them see things differently. Let me make a bold hypothesis: suppose you hit a bottleneck in running the company and came to a coach for a session. I wonder what insights you might gain if it went the way today’s did.
I think there could be a few possible insights. The first is that you might come up with directions you had never thought of. Or you might know something is a problem but not realize how serious it is, until someone points it out to you. Or you might be on the verge of deciding to do something, and the coach’s encouragement lets you accelerate and act on it. It can speed up the formation of resolve. All of these are possible.
22/05/10 Central 166 Eric “Meeting Roger Chou at a Late-Night Gas Station” Coaching Session Feedback
My coaching session with Roger turned out to be somewhat different from what I expected. I had prepared questions, hoping the coach would give me answers, but in this session Roger mainly used guidance to help me clarify my goals, my purpose, and my problems. Through questions and answers, he guided me to describe who I want to become 3 years, 5 years, even 10 years from now, and then brought me back to the present to look at the decisions I need to make. Many times, the answers to what I want and feel are already inside me, but reality is full of noise that interferes and clouds them: things related to the choice and unrelated to it, things with a large impact on the outcome and things with a small one… all of it crowds in at the very moment a decision is needed. Roger played the role of helping me peel back the layers and clear the clouds to see the sky, clarifying my thoughts and the crux of the problem, sorting things into categories, and then letting me talk with myself and make a choice. He does not directly provide answers or solutions, but instead stands beside me as I seek a dialogue with, and guidance from, my inner self or higher self.
During the session there was an empowerment ritual that used the law of attraction, inviting the spiritual power of nature to give me energy and strength, so that I could face my current problems and decisions with more confidence.
This session took place in the evening, which reminded me of a book I once read, *Way of the Peaceful Warrior* (published in Chinese as “Meeting Socrates at a Late-Night Gas Station”). It was the kind of conversation that provokes reflection and opens up inner inspiration.
22/05/04 SM Bible Volunteer Vincent Coaching Session Feedback
Hello everyone, I’m Vincent. Today I took part in Roger’s coaching session. We started by sorting through the threads of my past life, went on to clarify in depth the future direction I want to head toward, thought about when the transition should happen, and finally arrived at a much clearer picture. Through this session, I was able to get a complete glimpse of the present, of two years from now, of my next turning point, and even of the outline of the role model I hold in my mind. I now know how continuous accumulation will lead me to improve myself, and, seeing my direction from the vantage point of a giant roc, I can look squarely at how much I long to achieve it.
With that, I can run toward the benchmark with no hesitation, shoulder responsibility with more peace of mind, and accept challenges with more ease and contentment. With a mind that has been sorted out, I can go explore more possibilities.
In the little book *The Alchemist*, when an Englishman who had traveled a thousand miles to seek him out came for advice, the alchemist said only a calm “Go and try.” That was enough for the Englishman, who had been afraid of failure and whose fear had kept him from pursuing alchemy, to be willing to build a furnace and break down the sulfur. He was no longer afraid, and in his eyes shone a brighter light than when he had only read about it in books. I think a coaching session can bring participants more drive and courage born of self-awakening.
22/04/24 SM Bible Volunteer Ray “Topic: Career and Life Direction” Coaching Session Feedback
[So Amazing: a coaching session can truly help me regain my confidence and my direction in life]
First of all, I still want to thank Roger very much for giving me this amazing coaching session.
I once heard a saying: “People are great because of their dreams, and extraordinary because they act on them.” This line inspired me greatly. There was a time when I read science fiction and fantasized about humans one day going to live on the Moon or Mars, picturing a magical future of settling in outer space. Now that is gradually taking root at SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, which actually carried 4 passengers to the International Space Station! Although we cannot yet fully live in outer space, this huge shock made my timid, cowardly heart eager to take that brave first step. I even imagined having the chance one day to develop space technology together with many tech giants. Even if this dream may be a bit over-the-top and kind of adolescent.
During the coaching, Roger said my life plan was very clear, and that I only lacked enough confidence to firmly achieve it. But through this session, for the first time I calmed down and thought about longer-term, more High Level ideas. When I looked back at the problems I am facing now, I suddenly realized that they are not problems at all (is there anything harder than developing space technology?). The difficulties I am encountering and experiencing now are all there to help me grow stronger. Without going through these experiences, it might be very hard to reach the ideal goal in my heart.
What is especially remarkable about a coaching session is that all the answers came from deep inside me, and no one handed me any. Yet if a coach had not guided me, drawn me out, and helped me explore, I think it would have been hard to discover what I was thinking, what I care about, and what my values are.
Finally, I strongly recommend coaching sessions to friends who feel lost about their career, their life, or their family. I believe it will surely inspire you and help you regain the confidence to take the lead in your own life.
22/04/19 Taipei 166 Sallen “At Life’s Crossroads, Should I Turn Left or Right?” Coaching Session Feedback
In this session, through my conversation with Coach Roger, I was guided to connect my inner values with my goals. With the coach’s help, I also used meditation to outline my vision of the future, so that the actions I take going forward will have more power and a firmer basis.
Because the future vision has been deeply etched into my mind, I can more easily connect it with my real-world goals, and it gives direction and motivation to my decisions and actions. Once the goal is clear, it also helps me reflect on what to do next, or strengthen the capabilities I still lack, and so reach my ideal future goal.
Thank you to the coach for his guidance and help, which let me analyze myself before an important decision in my life, listen to my inner voice, and understand the thoughts deep within my heart.
Life is full of multiple-choice questions from time to time. If you are hesitating and cannot make a decision, this kind of coaching session is very well suited to you. I hope you will also have the chance to clear the fog in your heart through a coaching session and bask in the sunshine again.
22/04/14 Taipei 166 Savana “What Should My Next Step in Life Be?” Coaching Session Feedback
Through interactive dialogue, the coach guided me to analyze the sticking points in my own problems, then to analyze myself objectively and with data, leading me step by step out of those frames and helping me find my own answer.
Even when we sometimes know what to do, we can still be trapped by the negative outcomes we imagine. There is an invisible gap between “knowing what to do” and “having the courage to actually do it.” The coach helped me find that gap and guided me in using mindful imagery to strengthen my belief that I can do it, and that I can achieve my goals as I wish!
There is more than one answer in life, but a coaching session can help you find the one that suits you best~
We all understand that what comes next depends on ourselves, just as the coach encouraged me in the session: whether a miracle happens depends on whether you act on it. What did you do?
Classmates, if you haven’t yet booked a coaching session, how can you miss the chance to let a miracle happen? Bring your questions and book a coaching session with Coach Roger~~~
After the coaching session, I feel more confident and clearer about how to carry out my goals~ Thank you so much, Coach Roger~
How many times in life do you get to meet such a good coach? At PM.ABC, I have been lucky enough to meet several~
I sincerely thank PM.ABC for the positive changes it has brought me~
I hope to keep growing together with everyone for the good of all~
Thank you, everyone~
2022/03/06 SM Bible Volunteer Steve “I Lost Myself” Coaching Session Feedback
Hello everyone, I’m Steve from the Integration Team, and I serve as an associate vice president at a development company. During the pandemic, although I passed the PMP and PBA exams, under the pressure of work and life I lost myself and forgot who I am. In today’s coaching session, through the teacher’s patient, step-by-step questioning and summarizing, it was as if a searchlight was shining into my dark and confused heart, lighting up, step by step, the self I had long forgotten and the deepest treasure within me.
In the coaching session, the teacher also tested me on the spot with an English interview and guided me on what a foreign-company CEO would want to hear and what I could offer a foreign company, which gave me a clear direction. If I had not had this coaching session, I estimate I would still be wandering in the dark, struggling to find a way out. In the end, it turned out that the answer had been in my heart all along, and I had simply buried it. Under the teacher’s coaching and guidance, it was wiped clean of dust and cobwebs and began to shine again. Thank you, teacher. I’m back.
22/04/02 Taipei 166 Rita “Lost in My Career: Searching for Confidence” Coaching Session Feedback
I am very grateful to Roger for this coaching session.
The problem I brought to this session with Roger had been stuck in my heart for a long time. It was about my career and my lack of confidence. In a short time, Roger gave me a lot of positive feedback. When I could not find the key point of the problem myself, Roger led me through guidance. Through focusing and prioritizing, I sought out the answer I truly wanted in my own heart. Positive thinking gave me energy, built up more of my confidence, and helped me overcome my own obstacles, so that I now see more clearly my blind spots and what I truly want. In the end, I found the answer in my own heart and can go on to achieve the goal I want.
This time, Roger also spent extra time giving me a confidence-building ritual. During it, I was able to calm down, clear my mind, and think again. After internalizing it, I was filled with positive energy, with more motivation to move forward and belief in myself!
I am truly fortunate to have had this opportunity for a coaching session with Roger. I gained a great deal from it, and it gave me much more confidence to face further challenges. Thank you again, Roger.
22/03/26 Online 166 Sandy “Full of Confidence” Coaching Session Feedback
Hello everyone, I am Sandy from Online Class 166. I am currently between jobs, and I hope that earning the PMP certification will help me grow further in my future career.
I was very happy to have a full one-hour session with Roger today. I learned a great deal in it, especially about my career: I began with no confidence at all and ended the session completely confident. It also confirmed what I need to work hard on to reach the goals I want, so that my future self will be better off.
Under Roger’s coaching, everything seems to have become easier to achieve. My confidence in myself has grown, and I feel full of energy. So now I feel that many things are not as hard as you imagine; it is you who have made them hard in your own mind. As long as you have confidence in yourself, you can accomplish anything, so I am very grateful to Roger.
During the coaching, Roger guided me in stages, asking questions in return and letting me answer them myself. As a result, the process of answering drew out what I truly wanted to express. I had never imagined I could say so much, and this was my biggest takeaway, because I had always felt that I was not good at expressing myself. After the coaching, I never expected I could speak at such length, and I was quite surprised.
The difference in my confidence before and after the session is this: before, my confidence level was perhaps only a 3, but after the conversation I feel I gained 5 more points, so I am now at 8. The remaining 2 I need to work on myself. Still, I feel it has already helped me enormously. Thank you, Roger.
22/04/02 Online 166 Qianqian “Between Life Vision and Career Choices” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Qianqian from Online Class 166. Today I had a coaching session with Roger, and the main theme was career choice. In making my career choice, I am currently facing a conflict between my life vision and my life principles and behavior.
Through a series of guided questions and answers, Roger successfully led me to rethink the weights on the scale in my heart, and to ask whether there is a third option beyond black and white: what effort, or even remedy, I could make to reduce the losses on each side and reach a balance point.
So after today’s session, although my issue is still a challenge for me, it is no longer purely a problem. It has opened up a much larger space for thinking, allowing me to work out in more detail what I might do in the future, and I look forward even more to finding a balance in this challenge, an approach and an answer that I am satisfied with.
So I am quite grateful to Roger, who hit the key point in many places today, asked about my doubts, and let me explore my own inner thoughts.
In addition, I have three main takeaways from this coaching session.
First, Roger’s listening is extremely important. At the start, Roger listened to my account, and to what experiences of pride or grievance I had along the way with this issue. Through his listening, while I was venting, I re-sorted and straightened out my thoughts.
Second, standing in a different position: during the session, Roger stood at a relatively objective point of view, like the scale in my heart, constantly asking about my various considerations, asking where on the scale I wanted to place each choice, and how many chips I would use to balance the different options. Roger stood at a relatively objective and neutral viewpoint, which let me work out my own weights and balance for each conflict.
These first two points straightened out my thinking and also helped me rank each point of conflict.
Based on these two conclusions, the third point is that I now know what I truly want to choose, how to tie it to my life goals, and how to do so without conflicting with my other values. This matters enormously to me.
In summary, if I had had a coaching session with Roger half a year ago, I believe I would already be on the road to my vision now, and the more than six months of agonizing could have been saved, or perhaps I would not have needed to worry at all. I could have balanced all my thoughts at a very early stage and found the method best suited to me to carry out. Thank you, Roger, for today’s coaching session, and I encourage my classmates to seize the chance to have a session with Roger.
22/03/30 Taipei 166 Johnny “The Worries of a 50-Year-Old Man” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Johnny, the class representative of Taipei Class 166. I look like a man in his fifties, but inside I am like Roger, a young person of around thirty, full of passion; we like sharing and believe in the idea of shared good, and we are also full of drive.
When you doubt the choice you originally made, you are really doubting yourself. You should think about whether you have stopped, calmed down, and had a good conversation with your present self and your past self. If you truly calm down, have that conversation, and think it through, then bravely trust your choice, because it is the right one.
My conviction had been wavering, but after the session I feel I have worked out the second curve of my own life, and I know how to realize my short-, medium-, and long-term goals step by step.
Before the session, my motivation and energy were perhaps only about 20 to 30 percent. After the session, I have a clear line of thought, and I am now at 80 percent. I thank Roger for setting aside his precious time to talk with Jianhua, and I hope my classmates in Taipei Class 166 will eagerly seek the chance to talk with Roger, so that your future career and life will be more focused, you will be clearer about how to choose, recognize your direction, and make your future more colorful and brilliant.
22/04/03 Taipei 167 Reyla “Guiding Life Stages: How to Start and Regain Motivation” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Reyla, a student in Taipei Class 167, and I currently work as a PM in the environmental consulting industry.
Today I am very grateful to have had a coaching session with Roger. What I talked about today was in fact the matter of motivation in life. Roger’s approach was to guide me slowly to confirm my life direction and goals. I think everyone’s confidence in themselves, or the pep talks they give themselves, usually stay within their own frame, and we often lose ourselves inside a frame of self-imposed limits. I think the greatest meaning a coach brings us is that he lets us wipe away the dust in front of our eyes and guides us to find the path of goals that we have set for ourselves. Through this session, I now know more clearly that perhaps I am not as hopeless or as lacking in confidence as I thought.
My biggest takeaway this time was what Roger told me: when you have a negative thought, turn the sentence around and think about it in reverse, and it becomes a positive expression. I think everyone’s life greatly needs a mentor who can guide them. Thank you, coach, for your guidance today, which has made it clearer to me how to find my motivation again when it is lost. Thank you.
22/02/25 CSM41 Senior Systems Manager at a Multinational Tech Company Sonia “Life’s Next Direction” Coaching Session Feedback
Before meeting with Coach Roger, I had thought I had found my next direction, but through his professional coaching skills, he helped me clarify that the future direction I had assumed was actually not what I truly wanted; there was a gap between ideal and reality. During the session, Roger used guided questions and answers to spark my own inner awareness, and helped me converge from vague and scattered information into concrete, executable action plans, step by step. The whole process felt like the clouds parting to reveal the sun, as if I were walking out of a fog. (Our teacher truly is a lighthouse.)
Without this coaching session, I might have stayed stuck in place because I had no concrete action plan. Without having done anything, I would certainly have no confidence, and I would be trapped in the predicament of having ideas but no way to carry them out, a problem that could not be solved. If I kept being stuck in that state, I would stay trapped in that predicament, not knowing where to go, whether to take that step, or whether to go left or right, or how to proceed.
Coach Roger also guided me to peel back the layers of my past experience to uncover my strengths, then used a very skillful guiding approach to combine my strengths with my future direction, and finally turn them into a concrete, feasible plan. After the session, I found my life direction, and I felt much more enlightened overall.
Thank you so much, Roger, for your precious coaching time, which also let me experience and witness the skill of a good coach! Classmates, you really should seize this rare and precious opportunity and book Roger’s coaching time soon!
22/03/16 University of Science and Technology Professor Ma “My Life’s Next Step” Coaching Session Feedback
I am very grateful to Roger for arranging the coaching session with me. We discussed the three doubts and questions in my life that I had set beforehand. After the coach helped me focus, we chose the issue that is within my own control and highly feasible: my life plan after retiring from 21 years as a naval officer and ship captain and 20 years as a university-of-technology professor. I hope that after retirement I can continue to apply my expertise in information management, information security forensics, virtual reality, augmented reality, and enterprise digital transformation.
The coach helped me organize my life values: becoming known through contributing what I have learned, lifelong learning, and maintaining the financial support to live as I please. At the beginning of retirement, I may rely on my existing academic prestige to keep teaching part-time at my original university, which would let me concentrate more on submitting to well-known journals, and perhaps, combining information management expertise with project management skills, contribute more to humankind and attain a higher academic standing. When university personnel changes mean I can no longer teach part-time, I am also considering serving as a senior corporate executive or starting a business to increase my income and help my children fulfill their wish to pursue doctoral studies abroad. Starting a business at an older age of course requires the support and understanding of my family, and I must find ways to reduce the risk of failure.
After the session with the coach, I suddenly realized that I have such deep professional knowledge, especially the knowledge-economy-based business ideas that the coach’s guidance drew out. I think succeeding in a startup would be a very important experience in life, and being able to use good knowledge to help a business develop would make this life worthwhile. After retirement I could be rejuvenated and make my retired life even more colorful, and I look forward to and welcome another kind of life experience in the future.
After the session, it also stirred my deepest aspirations, my hope to put my professional knowledge into practice in business management. The coach kept guiding me to spark ideas for life after a professor’s retirement, with questions flying back and forth like a ping-pong match, and I discovered that I could even choose to become the captain of a luxury cruise ship, an arms dealer, a senior military instructor, or a senior information management consultant. Returning to my original doubts and questions, I hope to be a useful person, to contribute my professional knowledge to society or teach the next generation, and finally to receive the rewards I deserve.
After the coach guided me to view my retirement career with positive energy, I thank Coach Roger for his guidance, which let me think deeply about my future with a calm mind. Returning to reality, before retirement I still need to overcome the bottlenecks of university personnel matters and of promotion. After this session with the coach, I realized that besides academia, I can take other paths; that is, I do not have to follow the road that others have arranged, but can lay out my own road. With positive thinking, I am full of energy, and I think of striding freely, boldly, and stylishly along a bright, broad avenue.

26/09/19 ECSM37 Lin Chunhao “Getting into the NCKU Graduate Program” Coaching Session Feedback
For me, this coaching session was an important turning point that came about through a “fortunate coincidence.”
I have been learning with Roger for about a year. I had assumed this session would only discuss how to prepare for applying to the graduate program at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), but through his professional guidance, I re-examined my past career path and began to think about my value and future direction from a different angle.
Looking back, whether in my military career or in the private sector after leaving the service, I have always been used to measuring results by solving problems, completing tasks, and achieving goals. Yet something Roger said made me realize that having rich experience and achievements does not mean being able to present one’s value clearly.
In particular, Roger pointed out that although my application materials contained a considerable amount of practical experience and results, they failed to fully convey the stories and management value behind those experiences. This made me start to rethink, and I saw a blind spot I had never noticed: the leadership, risk management, cross-department coordination, and resource integration abilities accumulated behind those experiences were what deserved to be seen more.
The most profound inspiration this session gave me was rethinking the true purpose of applying to graduate school.
In the past, I was good at executing tasks and managing projects, but as my career shifted from a military organization to private enterprise, I gradually came to realize that being able to get things done well and being able to lead an organization to keep creating value are two different levels of challenge.
Therefore, applying to the NCKU graduate program is no longer just about obtaining a degree or extending my existing expertise. I hope that through systematic study, I can gradually grow from a task executor into a manager with big-picture thinking and business judgment.
The most precious thing about this coaching session is that Roger was not in a hurry to provide ready-made answers. Instead, through questions and guidance, he let me re-examine my own experiences, see strengths and shortcomings I had not noticed before, and thereby find a clearer direction for development.
I also came to appreciate that the value of coaching lies not only in helping the person clarify the problem in front of them, but, more importantly, in guiding them to know themselves anew and cultivate the ability to think independently and keep growing.
I thank Roger for founding PM.ABC, which gave me the opportunity to encounter coaching-style facilitation and made this “fortunate coincidence” of a session possible. This experience not only helped me find a direction for preparing for NCKU, but also let me rethink my past, position my present, and begin planning the next stage of my life.
Getting into NCKU may be my goal at this stage, but how to turn my accumulated experience into the ability to keep creating value in the future is the deepest inspiration this session gave me.
Thank you once again, Roger, for your guidance and inspiration.
22/03/04 PM.ABC Mentoring Coach Yvonne “Breaking Through Self-Imposed Frames” Coaching Session Feedback
I am Yvonne, a mentoring coach at PM.ABC. I recently collected all four PMI certifications: PMP, ACP, PBA, and RMP. My favorite is PBA, so I serve as a mentoring coach for PBA.
Before today’s coaching session, I had thought Roger was a very serious person, but after the session I found him especially warm and kind. I gained a great deal from this session, mainly that Roger helped me see things from a different angle, step out of my existing frame of thinking, and, through his guidance, find my blind spots in how I see things, step by step. The moment I saw my blind spots, everything suddenly became clear. I am truly grateful for today’s session; it was well worth the price and made me feel more confident.
If I had not mustered the courage to approach Roger, I would still be going around in circles within my original frame, not knowing how to break out to find answers. The answers found within the original way of thinking might not be the right ones, but after Roger’s guidance, the right answers emerged naturally. There are many moments of confusion in life, and every moment of realization is precious. This coaching session helped me understand myself more clearly, and its meaning runs deep.
21/12/16 XIAO CHEN “Agile Career Development” Coaching Session Feedback

I was promoted to director this year! I went from leading a team of 12 in one section to now leading three sections with nearly 30 engineers. I especially want to thank Roger, who has helped me grow so much over these two years. I went from feeling lost in my career to thinking I might as well try the PMP. After coming into contact with PM.ABC, I was not only preparing for the PMP exam; I was also moved by the PM.ABC team’s persistence and devotion to its mission, and by the many selfless volunteers at PM.ABC, which made me want to be someone who contributes to society. I plunged straight into the ranks of Agile volunteers. Along the way, I followed Roger and many other seniors in translating books, attending community sharing sessions, and co-learning coaching-style leadership.
Last December, when I had persisted for a while and felt I was not seeing any results, a one-on-one coaching session helped me see changes I had not noticed, and that I had unknowingly already influenced a group of people. It gave me tremendous energy again to keep doing what needed to be done, and I received quite a lot of feedback because of it. It made me believe even more firmly that if you truly want to accomplish something, many people will naturally come to help you. On this road, I have been helped by many people, both those I know and those I do not, and I will continue to walk on in the spirit of helping others succeed in order to transform myself. Thank you, Roger.
Postscript: This case was Roger’s first formal external case. For students training to be coaches in international coaching programs, at least twenty practice cases must be completed internally before one can begin coaching externally.
