One day, I happened to come across a new certification on LinkedIn, shared by a CSM who mentioned how thrilled they were to have earned it. This piqued my interest, and I wanted to obtain this certification as well.
I can encourage all CSMs to earn a free 2.5 SEUs or PMPs to earn a free 2.5 PDUs, while also gaining an understanding of how Agile can be applied with AI and an introduction to various AI tools. It’s truly a win-win situation.
Differences compared to the AI-PM course offered by PMI
In fact, before this, PMI had already launched an AI-PM course, which is an e-learning course. Upon completion, you can earn 5 free PDUs. However, there is a drawback: you must be a PMI member; otherwise, you will need to pay for access to AI-PM related resources in the future.
How AI can help Agile teams
The course content introduces the fundamental principles of Agile, starting from the four core values of the Agile Manifesto to the twelve principles, and discusses how AI can help Scrum teams. The course was reviewed by two CST instructors, Adrian Perreau de Pinninck and Jan Neudecker, both of whom volunteered to participate in the review of this certification.
Application of AI in the Agile Manifesto
It is particularly worth mentioning that the AI instructor in the course, Boostaro‘s CEO Snehal Talati, pointed out that the greatest help of AI to Scrum teams lies in the second and twelfth principles of the Agile Manifesto.
The second principle, “Welcome changing requirements”: Welcome changing requirements, even late in development. Agile process harness change for the customer’s competitive advantage. Even last-minute changes can enhance the customer’s competitiveness. The twelfth article “Reflection”: At regular intervals, the team reflects on how to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly. Teaches the team to regularly reflect on how to improve efficiency and adjust their methods accordingly.
High-quality learning experience
The entire course design is excellent, comparable to paid courses. The course includes about 10 videos, each lasting about 2 to 3 minutes, with the instructor Snehal connecting the teaching content. After the videos, there will be one to two quiz questions to test the learners’ understanding, rather than simply receiving a certificate after watching the videos.
The last 10 verification questions are somewhat like an open-book exam for students; as long as you carefully read the two-and-a-half-hour course, scoring 80 points is actually not difficult. If you don’t pass, I guess you can retake it until you do.
The application of AI software in the workplace
This certificate also introduces many AI software tools that can help you apply them in your work. For example, you no longer need to struggle with taking meeting minutes; AI will automatically do it for you. You can also use AI for brainstorming and integrate the results into the Scrum process.
In addition, the course also teaches you how to create prompts without solely relying on ChatGPT, such as using Claude or other AI software to set prompts. Prompts are created using CARE; as long as you follow the CARE guidelines, you can create effective prompts and obtain the answers you want.
Practical Applications of CARE
- Please use the CARE framework to address the following situation 1: Tips for refining to-do items?
- Please use the CARE framework to address the following situation 2: Tips for enhancing team communication?
- Please use the CARE framework to address the following scenario 3: Tips for a short review?
The Ethics and Morality of Using AI
The use of AI is not something that can be achieved overnight; you may need to try different ways of asking multiple times to get the best answer, but at least AI can help you complete 80% of the work.
What impressed me the most was the emphasis on ethics and morality in the course. When using AI, we must ensure that its decision-making process is transparent and protect sensitive data to avoid leaking company secrets and personal privacy.
Recommend CSM and PMP students to obtain AI certification
I encourage all CSMs or PMPs to obtain this certification because it is free, can update PDUs or SEUs, and only takes 2.5 hours. You will also learn how AI integrates with Scrum and Agile, which differs from how PMP combines AI.
PMP focuses on AI principles and self-developed AI software applications, which require payment to use; whereas the AI course in Scrum offers various application scenarios and recommends different AI software, making learning more concrete and objective.
