Recently, I was honored to be invited to participate in the grand event of RSG SEOUL in South Korea. This experience was both significant and deeply meaningful to me. Here, I share with you my collaborative efforts with RSG SEOUL, as well as deep reflections on the Agile future of Taiwan, which has sparked further thought in me.

In 2022, I held the RSG TAIPEI, setting the world record for the highest number of participants in a Scrum Alliance RSG in the past decade, with a total of 888 people attending. At the end of the event, I prepared a comprehensive final report ( https://bit.ly/3OwVdEc ) for this successful event, hoping to share it with RSG organizers worldwide. Therefore, when Mallory from Scrum Alliance enthusiastically invited me to assist with the first RSG in South Korea, known as “RSG SEOUL”, I agreed without hesitation.

In the first RSG event held by RSG SEOUL, I served as a Mentor, assisting them in organizing their first-ever RSG event. Even though I was in the final stage of applying for CST at the time, I took this as an opportunity to pass down Taiwan’s RSG experience. I believe this is a very rare experience in my life, as I can not only share my own experiences, but also help the other countries understand how to successfully hold an RSG.
Ilsoo(Ian) Ahn, CST, is the product owner of RSG SEOUL, the key figure of this event. He and I both enjoy a certain reputation in the Scrum training field. He is the first and only CST in South Korea, and I am the first and only CST in Taiwan. Even though South Korea has never held an RSG before, we started from scratch.
I planned this event with Ian’s team from scratch. Despite the process not being easy, I recorded my entire experience with RSG in Taipei and provided this valuable record to Ian. I shared the strategy of Taiwan’s event, which is oriented towards “non-IT industries”, and recommended several heavyweight guest speakers for RSG SEOUL. Although they ultimately did not choose the speakers I invited, but selected the Large-Scale Scrum (LeSS) expert Bas to speak, the entire process of selecting the guests was filled with challenges and excitement.
The event hosted this time at RSG SEOUL is themed “Scrum for Being Agile”, bringing together top speakers from various fields. During the event, participants will have the opportunity to listen to the keynote speech by Scaling Scrum expert, Bas Vodde, deeply exploring the cooperation and interdependence among multiple teams to create successful products. In addition, Dr. Park Jun Sung from KAIST will share strategies for implementing service-oriented Cloud Native application development in enterprises based on Agile maturity.
I am honored to serve as the only Taiwanese guest and speaker at RSG Seoul. During the event, I shared our precious experience in community operation in Taiwan, and brought insights about the path to success for the Agile and Scrum community in Taiwan. You can also hear real-world experiences from different companies, including KB Life Insurance and KakaoBrain, to explore the difficulties they encountered and the path to success when implementing Agile and Scrum.
This event is a rare opportunity for learning and exchange. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced professional, you can gain valuable insights and inspiration. Come join the event at RSG SEOUL, let’s explore together how to embrace change in the world of Agile, and create outstanding products and teams.
For my speech, faced with the limited challenge of just half an hour, I had to deliver my 4,000-word presentation. It also needed to be translated into Korean on the spot, so I chose to pre-record my speech and add Korean and English subtitles. Through subtitles, I was able to provide more content and precisely convey my message to the RSG SEOUL audience. Since Ian, the organizer, could not be in two places at once, I decided to add bilingual English and Korean subtitles myself. My assistant and I started working at noon and didn’t finish until six-thirty in the evening. Then, I spent another two hours editing the script. Although the process took me a full eight hours, I knew it was out of respect for the RSG SEOUL event, and in the end, we were able to present a perfect video. The next day, I still attended in person to interact with them.

Roger’s Live Presentation at RSG SEOUL:
This speaking experience in Korea has given me a deep sense of accomplishment. During the inspirational journey at RSG SEOUL in Korea, I not only interacted with enthusiasts from the Korean agile community but also experienced the diversity and challenges of Scrum in greater depth. I firmly believe that this experience will bring more insights and growth for my future journey in the Scrum training field. I look forward to continuing to promote the concept of the agile community worldwide, bringing more positive impact to global Scrum practitioners.
